Very very encouraging. My prayers continue for Kathy and you. Kathy came home by ambulance about 3:30. She is doing well with her breathing and heart rate. The Hospice nurse came and registered her and set her up to have 2 nurse visits per week for now and two visits per week by an aid to help her shower. A friend came by and dropped off a full turkey breast dinner, dressing, mashed potatoes, and Italian style green beans, along with a blueberry cheesecake for dessert. She also brought a package of street taco size tortillas along with a Cool Whip bowl of taco meat and a bag of Mexican mixed shredded cheeses and a bottle of taco sauce, some home made corn bread, a bowl of potato salad, a pound of locally made pork sausage and some fresh veggies she bought at the farmer's market along with a dozen home made chocolate chip cookies. Tomorrow another friend is bringing us spaghetti and meatballs

I am so happy Kathy is home. Looks like your friends have some menuess plans for the two of you.
I wonder how Hospice works.
I am glad you will have Hospice help for I know they are fantastic at what they do and so very supportive.
My prayers continue for Kathy and you.

Hospice takes care of everything from here on out. No charge to us for anything. Any drugs that are needed are supplied, as is the care, and social worker support. I have full power of attorney over Kathy's affairs, but if I didn't they send a social worker that is a notary to put a medical POA in place. The hospital equipment is all delivered free of charge, although we didn't need any because we already have all of the necessary medical equipment that is needed for now. A nurses aid came this morning and helped Kathy take a shower and throw a few quick curls in her hair. She hadn't had anything but bed baths since she went into the hospital. She said it was heaven to let the water run over her and to have her hair washed. We are not waiting for the nurse to come. She is due here any minute. Basically they take care of anything needed, day or night, 7 days a week and will be with me in the final hours. Such a blessing and comfort. It takes a lot of burden off of me to have their help.

When my father had CHF which was terminal due to a near fatal heart attack, Hospice came in & they were a Godsend. They did everything you described & took a heavy burden off my Mom. The nurses were Angels. It takes a special person to do what they do for obvious reasons.

Some humor: I have to have a biopsy done on July 1. I had some blood tests done this morning and my blood clot timing is low. The other test also came back low. I looked up what all that means and for a male my numbers are low but for a female they are normal. Looks like I will be needing a nice floral or polka dot summer dress to wear to hospital. My Pulmonary Doc called today but left a message because I refuse to carry a cell phone with and be forced to talk on the damn thing in public with everyone in earshot. Hate the damn thing.

The only time I do carry my cell phone is when I am out and about. We still have a landline. If someone besides Kathy calls, I answer and tell them that I will call them back. If I do make a call on the cell, it is within the privacy of my own car most of the time. For me the cell phone is an emergency communication device for the most part. Seldom to I just chit chat on the cell phone.
