We are seriously considering dropping spectrum. Have to give it a bit of thought. We are operating with 3 remotes as it is. One for the tv, one for spectrum, and one for the home theater system. Kathy has trouble juggling the remotes. The LG tv remote is where we select the input between antenna, LG tv, set top box. Does anyone have satellite tv? If so are you happy with it and is it as expensive as cable? We had satelite years ago & were less then pleased with it. The reception was lousy during bad weather, idk if that's the case now. Back then we were renters but no way now would I allow DirecTV or anyone else to drill holes thru my roof to attach a satellite dish. Our former landlord didn't care because he was an idiot who bought the house & never made a mortgage payment from the day he closed on it. He made a fortune collecting rent from three apartments until the bank foreclosed on him & we got evicted by the mortgage company.

I keep TV on even if not watching. At my age I haven't got much to do so TV gives me rewards and joys. During the day I am out and about always even if I have nothing to do. I also just like to ride the Busses to fill up the day. I really like all crime shows, legal shows, medical shows, police and fire shows and most especially on Friday and Saturday evening Diners Drive-ins and Dives with Guy F. Saturday is all CREATE TV. and Sunday also. I do not like visiting people and have no need to sit in backyard patio area's because that is where they all smoke cigarettes' and cigars and pipes. Not gonna breathe in secondhand smoke for it is as deadly as smoking.

Gave up on Spectrum with the price hike a couple years ago. Have not regretted it. How do you watch TV?

We are still with the only game in town for internet (thanks Gov Cuomo). We will probably get new phones when Barb decides she wants a new one and see what the carrier landscape looks like at that time. No land line phone for a few years. National Grid for power although we are part of a community solar so we get a little saving for that. Rooftop solar isn't practical unless I am willing to remove a large maple. We planted that tree as a seedling our kids nourished from a seed from a maple at our old house. I picked the location to provide afternoon shade in the summer. The next owner can cut it down and install rooftop solar.

Gave up on Spectrum with the price hike a couple years ago. Have not regretted it. How do you watch TV? TV is over the internet, usually the free stuff on Youtube TV. Local news, network news, CNN. There is a lot available. Free (add supported) network shows. Right now we have Jeopardy on the TV. Barb is sort of watching it while playing a game on her phone. I am sort of listening to it while devoting most of my attention to my computer. In a bit I will replace my computer with a tablet. Play some Tetris to see if that part of my brain still functions, then some Sudoku, then some Simcity

I watch Diners,Fieti's show on Friday nights, Nat. Geo., History Channel, PBS, MSNBC. Can't watch the Yankees anymore because HULU doesn't carry YES.
I think it's time for Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC to retire. I hate to pick on anyone because of their age but that woman can't finish a sentence without stumbling over her words. Geez, retire. How many millions of $$$ do these people need?

No cable for us ever again, haven't had it for the last 17 or so years. We ditched the Verizon DSL when we moved here and picked up Spectrum Internet for half of what we were paying Verizon for. We stream most of what we watch, but I do miss my antenna system for the locals. Sadly, they don't allow any to be put up here, so we'll have to wait until we get settled in our own place next year to see how that pans out.

I bought one for 20 bucks at Best Buy and we get a huge number of channels. I am sure it depends on your location and the valley may impede the number of signals you can acquire but for 20 bucks it is worth a try. The antenna is just a white rectangular bit of plastic that stands up on the table and looks about like an 8x11 picture frame. We have ours just sitting on a lamp table facing the front window.
