It was a shame that they let his home in Deerfield go to hell. When I lived on Keyes Road as a kid some friends and I rode our bikes up there to check it out after hearing about it in school history class. ( That was in the days when kids still spent time outside instead of in front of the tv with a video game controller in hand.) It had been vandalized even back then in the early 60s. It was a piece of area history that should have been preserved. Back then no one cared, Utica was literally and factually on the "eve of destruction" and everything and anything that could be taken down in the name of the God of Urban Renewal was. City planners tried to rip, shred, tear, destroy and then shove and jam the 20th century into the rectum of a nineteenth century city. It didn't work then and it doesn't work now. I understand that Seymour built that house himself, which he called "Mary's Land" after his wife Mary Bleeker, who was incidentally his cousin. What a shame, but that was the way it was. Also, I need to mention that the home the Seymour's owned on the north west Whitesboro and Hotel Street later became a garage and an auto repair shop, then later the whole block was taken down and there is nothing there now but a big empty lot.

I miss Ronald Reagan. I still wish he was President. Of course I also miss Eisenhower. Reagen was POTUS when the GOP actually had policy initiatives, albeit mostly shoving it to the poor & middle class. Nowadays it's bending the knee to Trump who's a traitor & a conman. Eisenhoewer would have had Trump put in prison if he could. Reagen & Eisenhower would have done anything in their power to prevent the party being taken over by a lunatic like Trump.
