Its the one know one is talking about!
I knew thats what was going to happen after people stopped the peliminaries to the Hanging of the guy who hit whats her name (Gribneau)
And what about the mother who tried to burn the building down?
So someone must know something- maybe if we start pestering the OD they might start thinking about looking into it- maybe....

I have a friend who knows the kid's mother. I heard he PASSED his breathalizer at the scene but the DA said because someone was killed that he had to be arrested. I don't know if that's true or not. I also heard that they never gave the other driver any kind of test. I have been at that intersection many times at night. At night it's easier to know if a car is coming because you can see the headlights before you see the car. I really don't think the other guy even stopped or just rolled through without really looking. People get chatting and that could have happened. You would think he should have seen those headlights. I think it has been a very botched investigation and/or poor information released in the media. It was a horrible accident, and nobody should be out to hang anybody. It's very strange that no test results have been released.

That building was also a problem and it is now down. Thankfully. It was a corner with accident written all over it. It is sad that the young lady had to die. I don't have an opinion on the surviving driver... yet.

It would be nice if someone was able to do a follow up story though.

It would be nice if someone was able to do a follow up story though. I agree, Ryan, but as Ralph said... Look and let's also be honest. The OD would rather dodge news and go to lengths to create their own than cover the chance that the subsequent fire causing/forcing that demolition actually may have saved a future life.

rick the demolition was scheduled before the fire was set it was on a time table for demlitin and actually one has nothing to do with the other, the fire was coincidental

It was in the news that the driver charged with DWI was NOT drunk. They put this kid through pure hell for no good reason! This whole thing smells bad just like the whole 13 year old being tried as an adult all on circumstantial evidence! I am so annoyed with the justice system right now!

My understanding is that the building was scheduled for demolition in three months after the accident. I don't understand how it is possible that the town knew of this driving hazard and did nothing -- NOTHING -- to address it until after this fatal incident.
If I was Les Lewis, I would sue the paper for libel. They didn't even bother to find out whether it was true the guy was driving drunk. And according to countrygal, the kid passed the breathalyzer. ?!
Countrygal, I too share your frustration with the justice system working the way it is here.
Though the arson law is clear and Gribneau's mother appears to be guilty, she should not be charged with arson for trying to do something that should have been done 10 years ago! She should be thanked for doing what the town officials are too inept at doing.
Just another reason why someone has to step in and start suing these bastards into compliance with the law and with responsible journalism.

I'm not sure he can win a suit against the newspaper for libel. The reporters were simply quoting law enforcement officers at the scene of the crash who told them the kid was blasted out of his gourd (or, at least, failed the field sobriety test). I'm not certain any of us could have passed a field sobriety test after t-boning another car at 55-mph and seeing bleeding women thrown from their car.
I found it very interesting to note that the following day, all the law enforcement quotes in the papers said the same thing -- we're not saying anything more until the blood test results are known. I'll bet they all had the DA's memo read to them at the briefing that day.

Countrygal I agree with you 100%!!!! I'm sick of the media, and the judicial system its all so ridicilous. Right now I have a problem with the sherrifs. I have a friend who has someone after them stalking them and their family and you this person goes to the Sherrif files a report and they said to my friend well we can get to next week!!!!! NEXT FREAKIN WEEK!!! !!! Ok so if my friend is dead what do we say then we told you so. Don't get me wrong I don't have a problem with police officers it's just well I don't know what it is. I just can't explain it because I have all the respect in the world for anyone that wears a uniform, they have a tough job.
