I have taken statins for years and at the present time I take Atorvastatin. Between the statin and diet my cholesterol numbers stay at acceptable levels. I don't take ANY over the counter supplements or medications without consulting with my doctors. As a 77 ( as of this coming Thursday) year old diabetic, with coronary artery disease, an arterial stent, and high blood pressure controlled with medication, and that takes a blood thinner, I don't put any foreign substances in my tired old body without knowing that they won't have any negative effects. Several times I have asked about a supplement only to hear that it did nothing and was a waste of money and a scam.

Clipper... here's one of my daughter's complaints. Surgery at Wynn Hospital is in the middle of the 2nd floor. That's where she works. The problem is that what they used to call Central Supply is way down at the far end of the hall. If during surgery an instrument accidentally falls on the floor, someone has to walk from surgery all the way down the long hall (a 3-minute walk) to order a new sterilized instrument. Once it's obtained it's another 3-minute walk back to surgery. This is quite inconvenient for both the doctors and the patient. 'Central Supply' should be centrally located, wouldn't you think? That's only one of the problems yet to be ironed out.

I am sure that as time goes on there will be many little glitches such as that. As they pop up one can only hope that relocation of some things will be possible. I would hate to be on the table with a major artery pouring blood while a nurse jogs to the other end of the hall to grab an extra hemostat. I would assume that during the planning stages of the layout there were more engineers and contractors making decisions than there were medical personnel that would actually be using the facilities.

Wouldn't it be easier to have in the operating room an extra set of sterilized instruments on hand just in case something happens? Sh*t happens.
But what do I know?

I take many supplements: CoQ10, L Glutamate, Extra strength daily vitamin, Omega 3 2000mg, Zinc, Magnesium, Valerian capsules at night, Stool Softeners, Senokot, Daily Fiber, Milk Thistle, Vitamin B12, Garlic, Vitamin D3, Eye Health supplement and Vitamin C and dandelion tea or capsules. I also use protein powder for muscle strength which drastically decreases as we get older. I use exercise resistance bands for my exercises routine. I do not think I left anything out.
