Oh no. Did they ever do the endoscopy to locate the bleed?

Kathy went back into the hospital yesterday with low hematocrit and received 2 more pints of blood during the night. They still have not done a scope to try and locate the bleed. Hopefully today. Keep us in your prayers. Sorry to hear that, Clipper. But even though it sucks it's probably the best thing for her so Dr's can figure out in hospital what the problem is. They can't do that if she's home. God speed.

Oh no. Did they ever do the endoscopy to locate the bleed? She had taken her morning dose of Eliquis that morning so they couldn't do the procedure for 72 hours. She will be having the procedure Sunday some time. I still hope that she can be discharged on Sunday or Monday morning to come home for Christmas. Depending on where the bleed is and how complicated the fix is she may have to stay over Sunday night to be observed.

I think what is causing the bleed is the Eliquis. The 72 hours wait may prove what I think. Especially if the bleed stops. Why would they continue Eliquis if there is a bleed!!! My prayers continue

The damned hits just keep on coming. I woke up this morning feeling like crap. Head full and sore throat. Home test for covid was positive so I went to Fast Pace Urgent Care for another test. They are part of the VA Community Care Network so there is no charge to use their services. They tested me for covid, flu, and strep. Thank goodness I don't have the flu or strep. I will be contagious and have to Isolate until next Thursday. When they discharge Kathy she is going to have to go back to the rehab hospital until I am no longer contagious.
I cant believe how fast it came on. I felt fine last night but woke up this morning feeling like I was shot at and missed and shit at and hit.
All the covid drugs are on back order so I am getting prescription strength Mucinex, and Nyquil day and night cold and flu tablets. They said if I pop up a fever to just take Tylenol, rest and drink lots of fluid.
This just isn't our best month for sure.

I cannot believe what you are going through. Please rest up. My covid came on all of a sudden. I was fine when I went to bed and at 3 AM woke up unable to breathe and I started using my oxygen concentrator. My lungs took three months to heal afterwards being watched by x-ray and finally cscan and with that they found out my ascending aorta has a slight aneurysm.
Drinking a lot of fluid is very important so as to prevent pneumonia from starting up. I learned the hard way and also came down with pneumonia. Please take care. I feel sorry for you and Kathy.

I called the VA nurse line in Johnson City and they put me through to a provider. The doctor knew what I was experiencing seeing as how he is working from home for telephone visits because he has covid also.
He said he will overnight Paxlovid and I will take 3 pills twice a day for 5 days. The only pill I have to drop is atorvastatin for cholesterol. He said to take the Nyquil or Dayquil every 6 hours along with the Mucinex and to drink lots of water and fluids.
I am feeling pretty rough. I have the thermostat set on 75 and have a sweat shirt on and I am still chilled. I had to hold my suppertime coffee with both hands. If I am still shaky and shivering in the morning I will just put my coffee in a sippy mug and drink it with a straw.
The worst part of going to urgent care was the wait time, When they put me on the list I was told it would be an hour and a half before I would be called. I told them to call my cell when it was my turn. The waiting room was crowded and I didn't want to give this crap to anyone else.

Geez, that really sucks Clipper. At least that VA Dr. stepped up & ordered Paxlovid for you & hopefully it will shorten your bout with that damn virus. Hang in there.

I truly cannot complain about the care we get in this area. There is a health care company called "Fast Pace Urgent Care." They have an agreement with the VA to treat veterans at the closest location to their house. When it is a rather urgent issue, you just go and they bill the VA. No copay or problems.

My prayers continue They are keeping her on a low dose because of the minor stroke she had while in the hospital last time.
