We have had a great time. Saw everyone we came to see, spent time with all three of my boys and their families, saw all Kathy’s family.
Today I did our shopping for the NY goodies that we always stock up on while we are here. Hapanowicz for 8 rings of keibasa and 4 lbs of their store made natural casing hot dogs. Next I was off to Chanatry’s. 8 lbs sweet sausage, 8 lbs medium sausage, 4 lbs of bulk medium sausage for Pattie’s. Next stop was Stan’s Seafood in Rome for 10 lbs of haddock filets. We brought our vacuum sealer with us. It took us over an hour to package it all for the trip. Two coolers to keep iced while we travel. . We hit the road in the morning, stay over in Winchester Va, and get home Thursday afternoon.

Winchester Va for the night with just over 400 miles of driving today. I must getting old. 400 miles kicked my butt, lol. Many times I broke out the second log book and had a 600 mile day when I drove a truck. 🤔🤫

300 more miles today. Arrived home at about 5 pm, unloaded the car, unpacked the necessary items, ate supper and will unpack and take care of the rest of it in the morning.
My lawn and garden are a disaster. I know where I will be spending my days for awhile. The lad that I had mow while we were gone waited too long and the clippings are a mess. He blew the clippings out so that they are coating the driveway, didn't get close to the fence or get in the corners anywhere. I paid him $50 to mow and it was to include mowing with the push mower where the tractor won't fit. In his defense he is a very busy young man. He is working a 40 hour week for the summer, while squeezing in football practice, and time with a girlfriend. I am sure it was a case of simply not having the time to do more than he did. At least the grass isn't a foot tall. He is a great kid and is always willing to help me out with anything I need him for. I think he just bit off more than he was able to chew by taking on my lawn with his other commitments. I love working around the yard anyway so catching things up and getting the lawn and garden back to pristine condition will just keep me busy and give me something to do.

We went to bed at 9 last night and slept until 6:30 this morning. Back to reality. I have to get started on getting everything right in the yard and garden and Kathy is up to her butt in laundry from the trip. I am heading out to get a haircut. Nothing looks worse than a half bald guy with a scruffy neck, and bushy sideburns.

I was going to say before reading your post that I bet his lawn and garden are a mess with weeds in garden. You actually get up at 6:30 AM. I hate waking up before 10AM weekdays and 12PM weekends!!

Do you take your dog with you on vacation or place her in a dog Hotel! Also does she like being on vacation if she goes with you

We're going to Lake George for a weekend in a couple weeks which is 120 mi. or so. Not sure if we're taking the Thruway part of the way or the back roads via Rte 29, the scenic route which will take longer. I lucked out & found a motel which allows dogs. Can't put her in a kennel, she'll freak out. How'd your garden survive?

The weeds grew faster than the veggies did, haha. I came home to weeds and a lawn needing mowing again although the lad next door mowed it once.
Our dog has never been put in a kennel either. The only thing that we have found necessary is to put a shock collar on her when we go out. She has learned that after the first two barks she gets a static electric shock. It works well, although I am not happy with having to use one. We stay in hotels that allow pets but incessant barking is one thing that they will not tolerate.
The last night we were in Verona some people checked in across the hall from us with a dog that barked loud and proud the minute they closed the door and left. Sounded like a beagle or hound. We didn't have to call the desk. The desk call US to tell us that they had notified the people to come back and take measures to quiet the dog. They actually put a muzzle on the poor thing. Now there was a dog that couldn't eat or drink while they were out.

We have a Yorkie mix who thinks she's a pitbull. Everytime I walk her she gets every dog in the neighborhood all riled up. Now, I take her for her evening walk about 9 o'clock when it's dark out - by flashlight. Lol. We've never put her in a kennel. We had a shepard mix a few years ago & put her in a kennel for 4 days. The woman who owned the place was lucky I even paid her.

A lady on the Bus was telling her friend she was with that she has been addicted from 5 different apartments because her dog constantly barks even through the night. She told her friend that she is going to try wrapping duck tape around the dogs snout and see if that works!!! I jumped in and said do not do that you will kill the dog. But she doesn't understand. I have not seen her in two weeks but curious as what she did. How can anyone be so dumb!!!!

She finally couldn't take it anymore & brought it to the Humane Society.

Other than while staying in a hotel our dog doesn't bark incessantly. She barks when someone comes, and barks again when they are leaving. If she is laying on the back of the sofa, looking out the window and sees a squirrel we can expect her to growl and bark. I doubt that any dog is comfortable with being left in a strange room alone. I am amazed at how quickly she learned not to bark with the collar on. The shock is harmless, but pretty effective. When I put the collar on her now she knows better than to bark. I wish we didn't have to use it but she can't be left to bark every time someone walks past the hotel room door or talks in the hallway.
