The Heart Expo is taking place at Utica College on Friday from 9am-9pm in the gym. Everything is free and you can get your blood pressure and cholestrol checked. And.....you can stock up on free pens and other stuff. I will be in the Dairy Promotion booth giving away low fat dairy products. Or I may be walking around in a cow suit. Bassett Hospital is there cooking up healthy recipes too. You can get a massage even. I got this really nifty CD plastic wrap opener last year. It's all kinda fun. I didn't really know where to put this thread, cause it's not really entertainment. Oh well.

A chance to see you in a cow suit? It sure sounds like entertainment to me!

I'm almost tempted to go. I keep going to my Doc for my usual cholesterol tests and they never seem to reflect what I am eating, nor the exercise I am doing.
I have often wondered if they manage to screw them up all the time or what?!?!

Can't get that cholestrol down Ralph?? that is because when they say oatmeal lowers your cholestrol, they mean if YOU eat it, not the Parrot on your shoulder, hahaha! ;D

Shit!!!!! I ate enough oatmeal & cheerios during a four month period to raise the oat futures on the friggin' stock market, plus doing 5 miles a day on the bike,! And it went up! I ate almost everything I should the last six months and sat on my ass and it went down.

Go to Peter's in the New Hartford shopping center and get Lecithin. It will help with cholesterol.

My father usually does the heart walk, I wonder if he's doing it this year. I'll have to ask him. If he does I'll send him over to talk to you!

Will there be any beer available after the walk or run.! Ummm. I've heard red wine is better for the heart than beer. ;-) I think if you want beer after the run you'll have to convince them to change the name of the race to The Boilermaker. :-)

Ralph, if ya do the lechithin thing, stop at Rite Aid and get some ammodium AD also. I tried it a few years back and it might have lowered my cholestrol, but it also purged my whole digestive tract. Probably not a bad thing, but that is the way it affected me. Countrygal, I am surprised you are dressing in a cow suit. I thought maybe you would wear some "UDDER" costume, hahahaheheheheehooohooohooo! Are you guys getting the commercials for "california milk and cheese"? I don't understand the big push in the east for california milk. I sure as hell don't want any milk that has been in transit all the way from the west coast. It kinda takes the "fresh" factor out of the equation don't it? Not to mention, if it comes from San Francisco area, it is probably from lesbian cows that have never met a bull that they liked, haha. ;D

Well....first of all.....there is a VERY small number of cows that ever see green grass in California. So those commercials are a joke! Most cows in California are in big feed lots. Those commercials annoy me. I'll have to bet there are more happy cows in New York! FX Matt will be at the Heart Expo on Friday. But you can only get samples of their diet sodas.

I know all about California feed lots and California milk, countrygal. When I was in the Navy, I was in California for awhile, and I could not stand the taste of the milk, and I love milk. I never drank milk out there unless I put chocolate syrup in it. Those cows didn't look too happy standing in their "concrete pasture" waiting to be milked. I would imagine that they have a lot of hoof problems and don't last long as milk cows before they are beefed. Most likely are fed a high protein diet, milked to death, and burned out in about 2 gestations. I crack up when I think about pen fed cows, that never see green, and suck smog instead of fresh air, and they advertise such pure and unadulterated bullshit. haha.

I guess I probably shouldn't criticize people in my business. It's hard in some places to farm because it's so dry. We don't let our milk cows outside until they are a few months away from calving (unless it's winter). We actually have less hoof problems, happier and more comfortable cows. Each of our cows has their own "mattress" to sleep on, 24 hour access to food and water. It's warm in the winter and cool in the summer with no bugs to bother them. They do like to get out on the green grass, but they are usually bellowing to come back to the barn by about day 3. haha.
Our farm is slated to host Oneida County's Farm Fest in June of 2009. I'll let you know the exact date and everybody can come have a good time and check out the farm and OUR happy cows!

Ralph,
You can go to a vitamin shop and get a orderless garlic extract pill that will also help with your cholesterol.
