You are an engineer so maybe you can answer a question for me. Is it feasible to put solar panels in the roof of a car that would produce enough power to keep EV batteries charged?
My son with the luxurious Tesla is now on a vacation road trip to Disney World. Thank goodness my daughter in-law's F150 has all the luxury options available. Yes, the Tesla with all its bells and whistles is sitting in the garage while the four of them tough it out in the pickup. It is a tough life for the grand daughters riding in that back seat with plugs to charge their phones and Ipads, drop down video screens, etc.

Why do people need all those bells and whistles as they travel. Gee I found the radio to be distracting and disturbing. I traveled once from Utica to Richmond, Va and never put the radio on and I was alone.

Rough guess, I haven't done the calculations. Solar panels on the roof, hood and trunk of an EV would extend the range but not keep it charged. I did the calculation once on buying an inexpensive solar panel I saw in a discount store that looked like it would fit in a south facing window behind my recliner. It looked like on a sunny day it would keep my tablet running but not much more.

Interesting reading if I knew what they were talking about, lol.

I wonder how much thought has been given to the possibility that an EMA attack on the power grid could bring the entire country to it's knees if we are all depending on electric vehicles to get around and to move goods.
