Sherry Boehlert did not haul the water that Al Pirnie did. Pirnie served for many years on the Armed Services Committee and was well known to the Dept. of Defense. My mom was an aide to both of them. She ran the Utica and Rome offices for both of them. The governor intervened at the time and suggested that if a base had to close it should be Plattsburgh due to the smaller size and missions based there. All he accomplished was for the BRACC Committe to close BOTH bases. You got that right. But I thought it was Boehlert who suggested closing PAFB. Either way thousands of jobs dried up in both areas. Once Boehlert retired he moved to a D.C. suburb.

It was Mario Cuomo. Mom and dad stayed in touch with Sherry after he retired and my mom was great friends with Mildred Pirnie for years after Congressman Pirnie retired. The Pirnies were very active with a lot of local charities and non-profits. The last time I saw them was at a fund raising dinner when my mom was the executive director at the MS Society. Al Pirnie was one of the kindest, compassionate, and likeable souls one would ever care to meet. Not like most present day politicians. the Pirnies came to my first wedding.

I listen to NPR on occasion. When my clock radios go off in the morning. I have one in each room and that way I get surround sound. I do not like Bill Keeler and never even heard of the others that were mentioned.
