This time of year must be the migration time for starlings. We see these swooping and circling clouds of what looks like hundreds or even thousands of black birds that circle and flow, swirling like fluid and then finding direction and flying out of sight. Whenever I have seen them overhead while outside I fear for a bombardment of excrement, but have so far avoided falling victim. LOL
For one reason or another I have never seen flocks of seagulls occupying parking lots here like I did around CNY. I often wondered why "Sea" gulls were so far from any major body of water. I guess they are not into the parking lot cuisine here in the Southeast, haha.

All the black birds ( crows ) leave the Utica Marsh each winter and move into the City and make a huge mess with their excrement. When I lived at Marino Ruggerio they would occupy the trees early each morning the noise level was so high. They had many trees to fly back and forth crapping all the while until the sidewalk and benches were covered in white droppings. They made a huge mess out of Mt Carmel Apartments and back sidewalks of the Church. Everything covered in white.
Well this year they attacked City Hall. I stopped yesterday to take a look and it is all covered in white droppings. The DPW puts up noise machines and light machines to drive them away but the come back till they decide to move on because they are bothered by the light and noise show. They have to use pressure hoses to wash down the sides of buildings and the sidewalks and other decorative structures in City Hall Park. I wonder if their next target will be the new hospital. LOL

I was wondering the same thing about the new hospital.
Disclaimer: this is just a rumor:
I've heard that there is a mold issue in the new hospital, still under construction.

There was something like that posted in Brett Truet's No Hospital Downtown site about 3-4 years ago, but nothing since then so I haven't put much credence in it.

I mentioned somewhere on here earlier that the county building was also under attack by crows. I was mistaken. It is the article about city hall on Channel 2's page that I was thinking of.
