;D Oh yeah Todd! No doubt you saw it all. I changed my dining habits and where I ate drastically after cleaning a few restaurants while I had my carpet cleaning and floor maintenance business. I HAD heard the story of "dirty jobs" covering a place where tiapia ate the shit in the sewer plant. As a matter of fact, I busted on the waitress at Perkin's about it. The don't have very good tilapia, so I usually have the cod when I go there. I asked her if she got paid extra to fish for the tilapia at the sewer plant when she wasn't waiting on tables, and what did they use for bait! Hhaha! ;D

Clipper, you may want to rethink the practice of busting chops on the young lady who may be carrying your food out of sight of anyone for a few moments.

My husband worked at a Burger King (I won't say which one, but it was in Utica) when he was in college. He told me people would sneeze in the burgers and still serve them and they would try to deep fry lighters just to see what would happen....ick.

Hey Frank, as a former waitress in my teen years I would have LOVED to have waited on Clipper showing his unique sense of humor. I'm sure that old saying would be appropriate in his case, "he who laughs first will definitely not get the last laugh," at least not in a restaurant I work in. ;D

;D At IHOP, you can see the cooking area from your table, and the waitress picks the food up off of the shelf between the kitchen and dining area. I am not usually tough on waitresses unless they are total morons. Haha!
We usually go to Perkins, and the waitress there is a friend. We eat there about 4 nights a week after bowling. She laughed and said she uses a brown jig tipped with a minnow to catch tilapia at the sewer plant.
Does make me wonder about where the brown gravy comes from though. I may never order the meatloaf and brown gravy again.

Perkins? My husband worked there while in college, as well. He was a short order cook at Perkins in Buffalo! He's a pretty good cook...Perkins taught him well!

There was a story recently about the uncleanliness of glasses in hotel rooms. Hidden cameras revealed maids wiping lipstick from the previous occupant from the glass with a damp rag, rather than wash the glass.

There was a story recently about the uncleanliness of glasses in hotel rooms. Hidden cameras revealed maids wiping lipstick from the previous occupant from the glass with a damp rag, rather than wash the glass. Yeah. Yet another reason why when I travel during good weather I tow my pop-up with me. I travel with my own room! I love my pop-up. I haven't spent a night in a hotel in years.

The first thing I do when I get to a hotel room is throw the bedspreads in a corner, wipe the phone and remote with an antibacterial wipe and look to see if there are plastic cups. If not, we don't use em. Even after all that....I still schkeeve.
Hopefully Disney is a cut above. I'd like to think so anyway. It will ruin my vacation!

Disney? When are you going? Where are you staying? Port Orleans is GREAT. ALL the Disney hotels are great. You can't go wrong at Disney! The last time I was there I stayed at the campground, but normally I stay in the hotels at Disney. I've been to Disney 10 times (I think) since 1992. If you want any tips (assuming you haven't been there or you haven't been there in a while) let me know! Also, assuming you won't be there next week when he's on vacation, make time to go see this guy, Bob Jackson. www.yehaabob.com/default.asp He's GREAT! Nice guy, too...I've talked to him via email and I've seen his show many times. Tell him I said hi! You can take Disney transportation to see his show if you're not staying at Port Orleans. Really, it's well worth it. And get the meal plan! The meal plan is the way to go! More food than you can eat, although it doesn't include alcohol unless you're at the Hoop De Doo Review. GO TO THE HOOP DE DOO REVIEW!!! It's another worth it show! Especially if you're on the meal plan! All you can drink beer and wine! Don't forget to check out Sorin' at EPCOT. It's my new favorite ride. And, and, and...I could go on forever. If you want to know anything just ask! And really, go ssee Bob Jackson when you're there. You'll love it. :-)

Yes, I've been before. We went in 2006. We are trying to go every other year. In 2006 we stayed at a terrific townhouse 3 minutes away because we had my Mom and Stepdad with us and Disney isn't 6 people friendly unless you get a suite. LOVED the townhouse, had our own private pool and almost decided to stay again, but I decided I didn't want to pick up after my family like I do at home. Not much of a vacation for me. Sorin is my favorite too. Went on it 7 or 8 times. Hoop De Doo sounds like fun but my little guy is very shy and I think he'd be afraid. But we'll see. It's a long way off and he may outgrow it. We've never done the meal plan and are trying it now. I'm still on the fence about it. We plan on eating breakfast in our room most days and won't be doing too many sit down dinners with our kids. So I'm not sure if it will be worth it. We are going for 9 days and plan on going to Sea World too. Skipping Hollywood Studios until kids get a little bigger. It may be worth the meal plan just to not have to carry the extra money for food.
My travel agent loved Port Orleans Riverside. We almost stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but I was nervous about the construction so maybe next time.
We share a common love. If I could go every year if I would. We went 17 years ago on our honeymoon and stayed at the Grand Floridian. Awesome! It is a beyond great place. Love it there.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness last year, and we've also stayed at Port Orleans (Dixie Landing), Carribean Beach, and the Old Key West resort. I loved having our camper with us at the campground last year, and since it was Disney property it was great and saved us a lot of money, but we've decided we won't bring the camper the next time because after walking around the parks all day we want a bit more comfort than we can get in a tent on steroids! The next time we go we had thought about staying at The Wilderness Lodge, but we've changed our minds and have decided to try the Pop Century resort instead. So far, though, The Port has been my favorite Disney hotel.
The meal plan really is worth it, and we used every single point we had, and honestly, it was hard to do! There was so much food! You can do the sit downs, but I'd recommend doing an expensive place for a sit down dinner as you could go buffet style for the same price and the food won't be quiet as outstanding. Also, the quick service foods can be very filing, must don't use your points for water! Seriously, you'll be charged a point for water if you use the meal plan at a cart, so just bring a water bottle and refill it at a fountain and use your meal plan point for something like a soda or hot dog.
When we go to Disney we don't leave Disney, so our son has never seen SeaWorld. We like to totally immerse ourselves in all things Disney so we just park and take Disney transportation everywhere and don't think about driving anywhere for our entire stay. It's great. When our son is older we do play on going to Universal. I had forgotten that they changed the name of MGM to Hollywood studios. How old is your son? My son is 6, and we brought him to MGM (sorry...Hollywood studios) last spring and he loved it. He rode Tower of Terror 3 times! I love the Chinese theater. There might be a lot for your son to do there...they seem to have a lot of stuff geared towards kids. It's a good park to go to for a half day, I think. We tend to go there in the morning, then hop on a bus and go to one of the other parks.
Man, I love Disney!

My older son is 8 and my youngest will turn 4 in July. The only ride he liked in 2006 was the Buzz Lightyear ride. We may go over to Hollywood to see Fantasia and the Indiana Jones show. I think he'd like those. I will NOT be going on the Tower of Terror. Maybe I can get his father to do that if he wants to go. I went on Mt. Everest and once was enough for me of that. I don't like feeling like my stomach will be coming out the top of my head or my ears at any moment. Then I feel lousy the rest of the day. I have an inner ear thing and since then, can't go on any crazy rides. I used to though, but now even the swings at the field days make me sick. Don't ya just love getting older!
I'm looking forward to Wilderness Lodge. Even though I'll miss our townhouse. That's the way to go if you don't want to spend a lot of money or have a larger than 4 group of people. And our car was included!
