Wow your shoes are expensive as some sneakers! Ham and cheese on Rye I like that. All shoes have become pretty expensive. I refuse to pay the price that they get for sneakers now. For years I was able to wear fairly inexpensive shoes from Sears called "Wonderlites." They were slip on loafer style shoes that were real soft and pliable leather with a padded heel collar and had excellent arch support. They would come on sale for $40 or less. I would buy a pair whenever they came on sale. Now I wear a pair of similarly made shoes in the shop that are made by a company named SAS. The shoes were $149. I seldom wear dress shoes anymore but I recently bought a pair of dress shoes. I must have tried on 10 pairs before I found a style by Nunn Bush for $89 that was comfortable and fit my feet right. I would love to be able to go to Target or Walmart and find a pair of shoes on the rack that fit me right and cost less that fifty bucks. A friend recently told me that if I want a comfortable casual shoe I should look at Sketchers. I guess they make some good quality walking shoes in several styles with excellent arch support.

I have a hard time finding sneakers that are wide enough for my feet, I used to wear steel toe shoes at work and wound up wearing size 12s with extra insoles because I couldn't find anything wide enough in my 10.5 size. I tried of pair of extra wide Skechers in my size off of Amazon and was amazed that that fit so well and were wide enough! Very comfy, so I bought two more pairs of other styles and they all are great. I don't need steel toes anymore for cornering perps in the store, so it's a great relief at the end of the day not to be wearing 2.5 pound shoes.

I checked into Sketcher's walking shoes on Amazon but they're about $100/pair. I guess somebody has to pay for the ads on the teee veee featuring that ex football player. I'll stick with my Nike's for now.

That is one of the main reasons that I have to pay so damned much for shoes. I also wear a 101/2 extra wide. I never can find a pair of shoes for less than 70 or 80 bucks that fit my messed up feet. The Stephen's Johnson Syndrome that caused water blisters that covered the entire sole of both feet left me with very tender skin or scar tissue on the bottom of both feet causes me grief when looking for shoes. If they don't fit just right that tender skin wants blister again. Believe me, you NEVER want to have the bottoms of both of your feet raw with a peeled blister. Kathy about crapped her drawers when I paid $150 for shoes to wear in the shop and to do yard work but they were the ones that fit me best at the time I was needing shoes.[/quote]

You have to wear shoes that are comfortable is a no brainer. I have arch problems and if my shoes do not fit right I end up with balance problems. I bought two pairs of Sketcher shoes for walking and they are great. I cannot wear shoes off the rack at Walmart or Target. I have tried but always run into problems. I have a Nike pair that I love to walk in I feel like I am walking on a cloud. A old pair of New Balance do the same but the cushioning is starting to wear out which I can understand after over two years of wear.

I remember going to Shaheen Shoes when I was a kid. My parents bought my school shoes there one year. I was fascinated by the fluoroscope machine which I assume now was a more a novelty than a useful tool in fitting shoes. With all the walking you do on an average day PB you CERTAINLY need durable and well-fitting shoes. So inquiring minds want to know. Have the good shoes taken strokes off of your golf score??? LOL

Mike and Frank on the Pickers tv show bought one of them a few years ago from a warehouse full of crap they were picking through. The building used to house a shoe store at some point.

LOL I have never golfed in my life. Well except for miniature golf. When I lived in Missouri several areas around Eureka had some fantastic miniature golf parks. And these were not those small set ups. When I was a kid my Dad and his friends as wel as his brother and fathers were avid golfers. I followed them around from I think the earliest was 7 years of age. Any opportunity I was out there with them at golf courses in Utica area, Old Forge and places I forgot. AND THEY PLAYED 18 HOLES. I would be exhausted.......weekends were murder. Whenever I take the Bus to New York Mills were drive past Twin Ponds. I can't believe I still know that course.
