www.wjhl.com/news/local/me-and-my-husband-have-been-walking-2-5-hours-just-to-help-my-mom-stimulus-more-important-than-just-special-purchases-to-some/The article addresses the actual valid need for the couple to purchase a car in order to support and assist the woman's mother. But as I read further and saw the remarks concerning businesses "stocking up" in anticipation of the arrival of the stimulus checks left me wondering how many people will actually spend the stimulus money responsibly and how many will rush to spend it the day it arrives like kids in a candy store. One couple that we socialize with stated that the day the money hits their account they are heading to NC to the casino. To each their own I guess. God bless those who head out to buy a computer to enable better online capability for the kids to more easily participate in the virtual learning process, or those that use the money to help with utility bills, rent or food. There IS a necessity for the money to be spent at some point as the true purpose of the checks is to ease the burden of those suffering as a result of the pandemic, and to stimulate the economy by supporting businesses, but the impression that I got reading about the businesses that are "stocking up" was that some are anticipating a black Friday like event. I will be eager to see what items are the subject of the stimulus driven sales.

Over the last two days we almost sold out of every TV we had in the store. If we didn't get more every day, they would be gone by now. People are buying two or three 32"sets and many folks are buying 2-3 55"-75" TVs at a time. Just during my shift yesterday I saw five swimming pools go out the door, and I was told a gentleman came in Tuesday and bought TWENTY FIVE of them! Three weight benches with assorted sets of weights went out yesterday as well as two the day before.
Lots of groceries are going by, but more frivolous BS than anything else. Lots of disposable items like pot & pan sets, bed sets, dish sets, etc. Crazy days for sure.

When Trump passed the tax cut for his wealthy buddies down at Mar A Lago & for his corporate cronies I'm sure the sale of mega yachts went thru the roof.

Mine will be used for moving expenses and first months rent and security. Hope I can do it or else I leave all the furniture and take some cloths and goooooooooooo. For some reason I am getting the smell of the drugs the son of the guy who rents an apartment I lived next to. That smell was not coming down into my apartment but something happened and I am getting it full force. Sunday I almost passed out from an exhaust smell which I asked about from a guy I know who was an addict and it is meth. He can make it with that Colemans fuel. I hope he causes a fire that is they only way the authorities will believe and actually do something. Amazing. I said I wasn't going to bring this up again but I hate this and why do I have to live this way.

Mine is going for new tires for my car, and a new transmission line. The rest will go for painting canvas, as well as a donation to the Vet's foodbank and that's it.

Sex, drugs & rock & roll. The rest I'll just piss it away. Just kidding. LOL Hahaha! I might end up spending some of it on drugs. Yep, I am a serious druggy. Eliquis, amlodipine, baby aspirin, and a couple of others. Rock and Roll? That is doubtful. Sex? Uh, at 74 I most likely won't be inclined to spend money on sex. Such a purchase could be harmful to my relationship with Kathy. If I piss any of it away I can blame it on my water pill, haha.

Well you are at least you have achieved a financial comfort for the time being anyway. Have you been accepted to move to another building yet? That will be a more than useful place to invest the money. A good night's sleep without inhaling illegal substances wafting through your apartment from a neighbor's meth lab will make it a very worthy investment in both money as well as personal wellbeing.

Used some of it to buy a bushel of pink Texas grapefruit. Yes, yes, I know....a bushel of grapefruit? Uhhu. But , I got an excellent deal on it, a bushel (32 large) was $25.00 at YBG. Two things about this: Texas was hard hit as you know by the deep freeze and I follow stuff like this: ie: the cost of basic commodities in the market. Second: because of this deep freeze the cost of grapefruits is about to go through the roof, what little there will be on the market and Texas pinks are the best. Third, they are already at $1.50 each elsewhere and can go up as demand for juices increases. Texas pinks are excellent keepers and will last up to 6 months in the fridge. I use them for fruit salad, juice, granitas, and breakfast. I also bought 20 California oranges at .50 cents each. Lesser Florida oranges are now at $1.00 each and will go up as the season goes on. Bacon is shooting up to almost $8.00 a lb for the basic thin strips. I bought 6 lbs of the thick bacon $9.00 at YBG. I cut it up into useable portions and bagged it for the freezer. Since I only use it for flavoring, it may last me a year.

I got through with my other chores and have been up in the garden with the bigger tiller mulching in the chopped up leaves that I spread on there last fall. The damned soil in the garden is starting to loosen up and is taking on a more acceptable dark color and loamy consistancy. Probably by next season, with another influx of next falls leaves I will have some decently easy to till loam up there. I tilled it down about 10 inches or so so it will drain well and won't be so muddy. My back is killing me. I just took a scalding hot shower and let it pound on my lower back. That tiller just beats me up. Ever since I broke my back in 1996 or 97 I don't have the lower back muscle strength anymore. Hot shower, cold ice tea, and Kathy rubbed my back with Blue Emu cream analgesic. Kathy also must have felt overly ambitious today. While I was out working in the yard and shopping she hulled that 8 quarts of strawberries, vacuum sealed them for the freezer, made a couple of dozen potato, onion, and cheese perogi, and steamed a link of that crappy Hillshire Farms faux kielbasa, haha. That stuff reminds me of a spiced hot dog, but it is the best we can do until we get up there in July and buy some of the real stuff. Time for another tall sweet tea, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and a possible snooze in my chair.

Clipper: Yes. YBG is "Your Bargain Grocery" on Lincoln Ave. If you are coming up here in July I will take you there ( not that you can't find it yourself, but it gives me an excuse to see you and Cathy). Guarantee you will love it. I am over stuffed with groceries at about $30.00 per week! Thanks to YBG I was able to set up a bonifide cold cellar in the basement and seriously, from November to March, do not shop.
