wcyb.com/news/local/kroger-stores-will-begin-to-administer-covid-19-vaccines-in-tennesseeAll 115 stores in Tennessee will start offering vaccinations by appointment. It is yet to be seen how much vaccine they will get and how long the list for an appointment will be. I still hold out hope for us to be able to find a site such as that for Kathy to be vaccinated. She could never sit in the car, in line for one of the health dept. clinics at the speedway. I can get mine at the VA. They are vaccinating just about every day and have already gotten through vaccinating the medical staff, hospitalized patients, and employees, as well as some other veterans that fall into the status guidelines from CDC. I don't think that there is such a struggle to find a place to receive the vaccine here as there is in other states. We also have churches that are getting vaccines and that is helping to get it to the minority population who in many cases have no way to get to one of the other sites. Have any of the pharmacies or supermarkets been approved to administer the vaccine yet in the Utica area?

I don't know. I gave up trying to find out and am now waiting for Godzilla to surface behind the State Office Building and take out Corn Hill, as well as vast swaths of the West End. Why? Because he can if he wants too. In all reality, I went to Price Chopper: the pharmacist said she didn't know. I went to WalGreens: the pharm tech said she didn't know, but I should stay on my computer and keep refreshing it until I found out. Maybe PB knows: he seems to be up on all this here hoozibanger stuff.

I should be vaccinated on March 1, 2021 if all goes well and if the world doesn't end or if I die or I guess if the shipments are blown up by some alien forces or we get a major snow storm causing the power to go out for a few days and the vaccine spoiling.

There isn't any that I know of. In fact, I have no clue where the vaccine is being given out around here, period. Thay were doing it at MVCC, are they still? Beats me. How about SUNY? Who knows. And one would think that the geniuses who are running the show would have set up a site in Utica that was convenienent for people who don't have a car or able to take a bus. I'm wondering how many people from Oneida County have actually gotten vaccinated. The whole thing is a fiasco.

Maybe PB knows: he seems to be up on all this here hoozibanger stuff. I went here: www.mvhealthsystem.org/vaccine-network to get information. I also filled out the applications at the grocery store sites and pharmacy sites since you cannot get information from them unless you sign up on their web page. After spending several hours I kept getting the response: No vaccination sites in your zip code area!!!!!! Why on earth would they advertise vaccinations at these grocery stores and pharmacies listed in Utica if nothing is available. I signed up the same day the information came out to sign up. CONFUSING. So anyway MHA Americor called me because I am over 65 for a vaccination on March 1. I called back but the girl I spoke to never took a college course in basic phone business communications. She did say ok I will put your name on the list!! I never got a chance to give her my name since she talked a so darn fast. Oh well I will just screw with them till March 1 and if I don't get the vaccination I signed up for(?) all hell breaks loose. Trouble is they do not care..........

We got our COVID tests yesterday. Long wait in the car for someone to come out and swab our noses. Then 45 minutes to wait for results. We now have papers allowing us to return to NY.

Glad you are home and safe. Stay warm. Quite a shock to get off a plane in the snow after being in Florida. When I was in the Navy I came home to NY for Christmas from Key West. It was in the 80's when I got on the plane in Miami and when I arrived at the old Oneida County Airport it was in the teens or 20's with snow blowing across the road so you could hardly see. I don't think I warmed up for a day or two. I still remember that we went to the old Del View Restaurant in Newport for a good NY pizza and a Genesee beer before we even went home to my parent's house.

Our weather will be taking a drive for next two days. Low 20's even as low as 5 degrees with wind and snow,
Monday I get my first vaccination of a 2 shot series of Moderna vaccine. I have an 11:00AM appointment. The papers I filled out included a paper on symptoms of reaction what to look out for and with numbers to call for help.

Wasen't that on 28? I played in a pool league years ago & we'd travel to the local joints all over the place & the Del View was one of them. It was quite the rowdy place back then but we never had a problem in there.

Yep. It got rowdy sometimes when they had a band. First it was primarily a great Italian restaurant run by Ray Alsante Sr, his wife, his daughter Gloria, and young Ray. When mom and dad were gone leaving it to the two kids somehow Gloria and her husband Chuck took it over. They had go go girls in there when it first became popular. There were fights in there every weekend. Those country boys loved to drink beer and scrap. There was a fairly big country kid that was a bully and he harassed me from the time I moved to Newport because I was a city kid. I weighed a scrawny 140 pounds back then and I wasn't a fighter. He sucker punched me one night just before I left for the Navy because I was dancing with a gal he was trying to pick up, then got in his car and drove away. 5 yrs later I ran into him at the Country Place bar that used to be next to the arterial just South of Court St. When I came home from the Navy I was about 20lbs or so heavier, The skinny city kid came home with a 32 inch waist, a 44 inch chest and biceps that fill out my t-shirt sleeves. The weight was all in my chest and shoulders from working out and learning to fight from a golden glove fighter from Chicago who was a fellow gunners mate on the USS A.A.Cunningham out of Long Beach. Just running laps around the main deck, sit-ups, push ups, pull-ups and punching a heavy bag. When I saw that the bully sitting there, the memories came back so I tapped him on the shoulder and when he turned I knocked his ass of his stool and told him it was a receipt for sucker punching me in the face 5 yrs earlier. The bar owner got between us and told me to leave so I turned and walked out. The next time I saw him it was in the Mapledale in Barneveld. I figured when I saw him that he would probably want to fight, but he didn't say a word and sent me down a beer. Before I left I bought him one back. Not another word was ever spoken between us and we saw each other out and about fairly often.
Going back to the Del View story. Chuck and Gloria made a great pizza and were the only place up and down the West Canada valley at the time where you could get a pizza or an Italian dinner. One Saturday when there was a few of us in there nursing Friday night's hangover and sharing a pizza, Chuck dropped dead behind the bar. He complained that he had a bad headache and dropped over dead from a massive brain aneurism.
Is the building still there and is it a restaurant? The last few times I was in there was in the mid 90's and it was a nice upscale steak house run by a young couple.
Sorry to ramble on, but many of the posts on here bring back vivid memories, and I have many. It is no secret that I enjoy reminiscing. I live for today, look forward to the future, but it is great to just let your mind wander back in time to recall memories and experiences from the past. I get that from my dad. When he lived with Kathy and I after my mom died I used to spend hours with him, listening to him relate stories from his childhood right up through his experiences serving with the air force during WWII and the Korean war, as well as stories about me and my siblings when we were young.
We all have memories and I was fortunate to have been brought up in a loving home with parents who's devotion to their children left us with memories that are nothing short of heart warming. About once a month my brother, my sister and I get together at a local McDonald's for coffee or lunch, and they, like me, love reminiscing about our childhood and younger days.

I'm not sure if the Del View is open or not. I haven't been up that way in years except one trip last summer to fish the West Canada & I didn't notice if it's still there.
Btw, nothing wrong with reminiscing. We all enjoy when you share your experiences. I always find them interesting & entertaining.
