Very few Italian restaurants here. There is a chain called Fazoli's. Everything is served on plastic plates and with plastic forks and knives. Has anyone ever tried twirling spaghetti with a plastic fork and spoon? Then there is Guiseppe's. We ate there just once. $14 for a plate of spaghetti with marinara, $3 extra for short link of over cooked, tasteless Italian sausage. $11 for a Calamari appetizer that consisted of about 15 pieces of over cooked and rubbery Calimari and about 2 ounces of sauce to dip it in. We didn't dare ask for a dessert menu. Probably would have had to take out a loan for a piece of cheesecake. Olive Garden is about the most acceptable Italian cuisine around here. I miss the mom and pop Italian places in Utica and Rome. Tony Sparagna's was one of the best. Never had a bad meal there. That neighborhood is now a war zone. It's a shame.

The last time I was on Lenox Ave was to go to Pulaski Meat Market. You are right about that neighborhood. It was pretty sketchy. We used to eat quite often at Tony Sparagna's. Pescatore's was my all time favorite. Of course EVERYONE likes "Spaghetti Joes" but that was closed the last time we were home. The last time we were home we ate at the Spaghetti Factory in Verona Beach. It was not anywhere near as good as it was before we moved down here.
