I dragged Strikeslip out of retirement to post the item below which is a compilation of news stories about the riot and seemingly related players or issues that seem to tell an untold story. I add to this every day as news stories appear and/or I remember a story that seems relevant from the past (applying my own personal filter as we all do in life) . Maybe I'm just reading tea leaves. I was wondering of others see what I see if I don't say it. Let me know what you think. strikeslip.blogspot.com/2021/01/capitol-riot-connect-these-dots-and.html

From what I have read both DC police and state of Maryland were offered Nat Guard support and declined. Once a riot starts the only solution is to clamp down hard. No one was willing to step up.

I was under the impression as of the noon news today that there were already guard 1500 troops already in place in DC. They showed military trucks blocking some of the intersections and keeping people away from Capital Hill.

Strike I read all of that too. The last thing I read was that the National Guard is now in place at the Capitol; standing guard around the clock and that the FBI is going around to people homes in DC inquiring about the hiding of IED's. Oh and that Trump is demanding peaceful protests only with no violence. Whatever happens from here out I don't think is Trumps fault providing he does not speak about it. Regardless a movement was in the making all along it will be hard to stop. I hope no violence in the days to come. Fingers crossed.

They showed pictures on the news at noon of guard troop standing behind Jersey barriers, 10 feet apart, with M4 carbines, protecting the capitol. They said that THOUSANDS national guard troops will be in place by inauguration day.

good morning: now that almost a week has passed since the Capitol insurrection and riots how is everyone processing it?

I still don't approve of the media painting all of the demonstrators as violent domestic terrorists. I was never one to subscribe to the fake news thing but I do believe in this case there is an intentional neglect to report that the major portion of those that protested were there to peacefully demonstrate. It was a minority and small group when fairly compared to the number of innocent people that filled the mall.
How am I processing it? Appalled by the event and rightfully apprehensive as the time grows shorter until the inauguration.
The impeachment? A waste of time and taxpayer money in my estimation. While I supported Trump and his agenda and voted for him twice, I no longer support any idea of him running again, but don't think it is necessary to waste valuable legislative time that could be devoted to productive issues when Trump wouldn't stand the chance of a fart in a windstorm of being elected again in 2024. In the last few months he lost a lot of supporters and burned a lot of bridges.
Make no mistake about it. I am also apprehensive about what a Biden presidency is going to look like. I will continue to hope at this point that the republicans can field a candidate in 24 that can take back the white house, or at least in two years put forth candidates that will allow the republicans to take back a majority in the senate. In the meantime I think we are all best served by "letting go and letting God" at this point. It is out of our hands for the immediate future.

I just want my $1400. Stimulus check that Biden is promising. I actually opened a second savings account and transferred my $600 to it. The $1400 will go there also if we actually get it. It will be what it is intended to be. A nest egg to pay for any emergency financial contingencies that may arise. We are fortunate enough to have a reliable and adequate income, and we like to help others who don't a little bit when the opportunity arises. It is nice to have that little bit put away so if we want to give someone a $50 Walmart card for groceries or donate some groceries to the food pantry we can do so. I was just telling Kathy a little while ago that I am going to drop off a raincheck for two of those huge turkeys I got, along with a $20 bill to the homeless shelter at the local mission so they can grab a couple. Bristol Kroger didn't have them so I tried Kingsport. When they didn't have them I got a raincheck that we will not need now. These stimulus checks are a way for those who have no immediate need to share with someone who DOES have a need. We are not rich philanthropists, but I was brought up to share and even being able to give $5 to someone that is hungry is a blessing that in turn comes back to us.

IF the left did indeed "steal the presidential election", will the same thing happen at the 2022 elections?

The left didn't steal the election. Fact is, the majority were fed up with Trump & voted him out. It's as simple as that. What I find interesting is when those 50 or so lawsuits were filed not one of Trump's lawyers or any other lawyers involved in those cases would say in open court to a judge as an officer of the court that fraud was committed. Not one that I know of. That alone speaks volumes about the validity of those filings. The whole thing was a sham & a disgrace & now the country will deal with this as Trump golfs in sunny Florida. Nice going.

So....riddle me this... exactly what type of alternate universe do these jamolks live in... they just arrested a guy at the capital... he had 700 rounds of ammo, a loaded glock handgun and some type of faked out bogus homemade invitation to the inaguration which he displayed to the police. They have literally opened the floodgates to insanity. It is like Gomer Pyle gone Cujo. Every human fecal impaction is on his or her way there. Do these people not have tv's, radio's, internet, phones, newspapers??

Fox News & other right wing media outles have been drumming it into people's heads since the election that it was stolen from Trump. They are directly responsible for what's going on with their lies & propoganda. People like Hannity are getting paid $25 million dollars a year for spewing this crap. Thay should hang their heads in shame for what they've done.
