My favorite uncle in Atlanta fell and broke his hip a while back. He is 92 and not recovering. He is on hospice care now, not eating, and on morphine for the pain. We are heading there this afternoon for at least a couple of days. We will have to play it by ear. I am his favorite nephew and the only one that stays in touch with him often. I speak with him at least once or twice a week and he and his wife have gone camping with us a couple of times. Prayers for my unc and for a safe trip for Kathy and I. I am not crazy about traveling during this pandemic or about eating in restaurants and staying in a hotel. I am taking my Ipad but I don't know if I will be getting on line much. Enjoy your break without all the boring news from the Southeast, hahaha!

Sad state of affairs there Clipper. Same thing with my Mom, all downhill after that. Stay safe and be careful out there.

We are back home. My uncle is still hanging on. He is in an out. Sometimes he is lucid and can converse weakly, and other times he is completely unresponsive between the morphine and the adivan. He is conscious but just stares at you when you speak to him. Very sad indeed. We stayed an extra day and just came home today. The hospice nurse says his heart is strong and he will probably die from kidney failure as he is not eating or drinking and has zero urine out put for like 4 days. I was glad I got to go down and see him while he is still alive and able to know I was there.
It is hard to believe that when I was driving over the road I would drive 6 or 7 hundred miles in a day. Atlanta is only about 300. I drove it in a little over 4 hours. Everyone was doing between 75 and 80. If I had slowed to 70 I probably would have gotten ass ended. It is good to be home. I am whipped. My back and legs are stiff and my eyes are tired. Getting old haha.

It is good that you got to see him and talk to him. I am sure he was grateful for your presence. Our presence at a time like that is a present, a grace that I am sure filled him with joy something that we may not see but a reality that lifts his soul and brings peace. I am sure he also felt comfort and in that felt his God.
