I had to put my heat on. It is 66 out and I am freezing. I put it up on 77 to get the chill out. Winter is not welcome around me. Burr.

We have been keeping our AC on 74. With the temps hitting close to ninety or more every afternoon lately, 74 feels more than cool enough when you come in from outside, and it makes for some great sleeping. I can sympathize though PB. There are times when I get chilled in the evening thanks to blood thinners. I have a long sleeved shirt in the hassock next to my chair if I get too chilly.
Our company wasn't due until tomorrow but they decided to surprise us. They left Verona Beach last night a midnight and pulled in here about 11am. I had bought eight 8 foot 1x4's for the facia on the garage. Once the gutters were taken down I found that the facia was actually 1x6 with about 3/4 of an inch ripped off on the table saw.
I put a plywood blade in my skil saw and cut the old aluminum gutters into manageable lengths so I can take it to the scrap yard, then I put a regular combination blade back on it and cut up the old facia boards. There were nails every 16 inches so I cut the boards leaving the nails all on one end, then went back and took an inch off with the nails and tossed them, leaving the remaining pieces for my sister and brother in-law to burn for kindling in their fire pit.
Next project was painting the eight new boards, two coats, both sides while Jimmy and Deb took a nap after driving all night. The next task was for Kathy's nephew to trim some low hanging branches away from the electrical and cable lines with the pole saw and I cut them into pieces with the regular chain saw so we could pile them on the burn pile in up in the back.
After supper we went back out and I mowed the lawn with the rider while Jimmy fixed the recoil rope on the push mower. Home made apple pie and ice cream finished off the evening along with hot coffee and chit chat out in the carport.
Tomorrow we will get the new facia boards on and Jimmy is going to coat the rubber roof on the trailer. I was shocked when I went to buy the stuff. It is a special coating for rubber roofs that costs $85 a gallon and I had to buy two. Yikes! They are here for a week and he works from daylight to dark. He is like the energizer rabbit. He is going to silver seal the garage and carport roofs, and we have to hang the new gutters. He also is going to lay new vinyl tile on our bathroom floor and install new mop board that I am fabricating on the router table, putting a decorative edge on the top edge of it. I can't kneel any more since I got two titanium knee replacements a few years ago.
We always enjoy their visit and he loves doing projects while he is here. He always wants a list of chores and projects that he can do while here. He is a true blessing and much appreciated. He loves his aunt Kathy. His mom was Kathy's older sister. She died of cancer at 43yrs old leaving 6 children behind. Kathy has always been like a mother to them and they all worship her. Having Jim and Deb here every year is a real highlight in our lives. They used to come for the NASCAR race and stay for a week. With the pandemic forcing us to cancel our trip to NY this summer, it is a real treat having them visit. Kathy doesn't get out much and it really lifted her spirits.
