Good morning. 6:45am and I have been out and unloaded 12 of the 24 bags of concrete mix and pecked away at the remaining portion of the ditch that needed to be made deeper in order to accommodate the 4-5 inches of concrete, and installed a small form to provide a sharp edge where the driveway meets the grass.
A cup of coffee and a bagel with cream cheese and the back to work before it gets warm. We get a break from the heat of the past week or so. It is only supposed to reach a high of about 80 today and that will feel like a cold front compared to the last few days.
Have a good day everyone. I hope that you also get a break from the heat with the heavy rains that fell overnight in your area.

Well that plan went to hell in a hurry. I was driving a stake to hold a form and the stake split, causing a 16 oz hammer to smash my little finger on my left hand. It caught the tip of the finger just toward the end from the last joint and split it to the bone. I could look down in the gash and see the bone and the joint. Off to urgent care we went. No stitches. The doctor said it would heal faster with a splint and bandage. He put a metal splint on it and wrapped it so it is the size of a damned cucumber and absolutely useless. We finished removing the dirt and tamping the surface in prep for concrete. Kathy made us spaghetti and baked a cake. When my sis and brother inlaw left I went out and mowed the lawn. I am in for the day now. My finger throbs like a tooth ache. Time to get in my chair and elevate it so it doesn't hurt so damned bad. He gave an antibiotic and told me not to do anything with that hand for 4 or 5 days to give it a chance to close up and begin to heal. The concrete will have to wait for a week or so.
Taking Eliquis made it bleed like crazy. The blood was dripping a stream from the end of my finger. I totally ruined a wash cloth on the way to urgent care. Now Kathy Will have to listen to me bitch for the next 4 or 5 days while I sit on my butt and can't accomplish anything. LOL

A couple years ago I was replacing a corner piece of vinyl siding off an 8 ft. step ladder. When I was getting down off the ladder I somehow forgot their was another step. When my foot hit paydirt I went ass over tea kettle. I thought I broke my ankle for sure but I only sprained it & that sucker hurt. For a couple weeks I was known as step & a half. I'll have to remember that just in case I want to use it.

Urgent Care needs a speed lane for old farts. LOL! They took one look at my wound and took me directly to a treatment room and took care of it. It was pretty gnarly looking. I still can feel my heart beat in it but it is tolerable. I took two extra strength Tylenol about an hour before I went to bed and slept fine. Yesterday the pain was excruciating. Imagine the usual pain of smashing your finger with a hammer coupled with the added pain of the deep wound. How quickly something like that can happen. Just a couple of more blows with the hammer and I would have been finished with the task. It could have been worse. I could have shattered the joint. I only missed it by a hair. It is a long handled 16oz hammer and I was not sparing the horses in swinging it.

Seem to be PB. How about you? Are you recovering from your treadmill fall? We are getting old. We can't .just rub some dirt in it and keep on going an more. I imagine you have some pretty significant bruises as well as the cut on your leg.
