Why did that first picture turn you on? ;D Yes, it is me. Well, the guy holding the fish. I'm much more handsome now. Umm, why? lol

Wow Countrygal! You're close... You actually have to go to McKeever and walk several miles back to Raven's Run. Ever heard of it?

Nope, the shallow rocks just looked familiar. Ever been to South Lake?

Yes, I have. Least wise, it sounds familiar. There really isn't many, if any places that I haven't walked into or stumbled across up north.
Where is South Lake located?

About 30 miles or so past the Buffalo Head. It is a big lake with just a few camps on it. My in-laws have a camp there. I don't go much. See the "One of those days" thread in the Steam Room to understand why.

Caught a rainbow, but only about 10 inch, this morning, on the Esopus Creek. Was a gorgeous morning, before it rained. Now the sun is out again at 2:30 pm.

It just doesn't get any better than that! Yeah, a 14 inch would have been nice. Haven't seen a 16 in quite a while and that's about as big as they get on the Esopus (browns, that is.) But I saw an 18 inch bruiser brown come out of the small Plattekill Creek across the road on opening day a few years ago. So it happens. To someone else. Sorry, I never carry a camera. Carry enough other useless crap. Except what I need. I caught this morning's fish on a bead head fly and the water was a little faster than I expected, so the bead helped get the fly down. Later, I switched to a prince nymph and could have used a tiny split shot to help it down, but couldn't find one in my vest. They're probably in there, somewhere. Sorry, I couldn't resist this one .....

Hey Dave, I've never used the USGS Real Time Water Data pages. Do you figure those stats help you to a degree that is distinguishable versus not using that info? I looked at the several pages.
I take a little camera with me everywhere. Just to 'catch' many one of a kind things that won't pass my way again. Those pictures also illustrate what sort of day I've had.
That was a lovely sounding catch on your part. Trout are a treat to find.

I think so Stoney. It's either him, or Larry the Cable Guy! I am not sure which. I think I saw the flannel shirt somewhere, but Larry usually cuts the sleeves out of his. Nice fish Rick! A man after my own heart with the facial hair. Kathy always asks me why I culitivate on my face what grows wild on my butt. I just tell her it's a "man thing", kinda like standing up to Pee. We do it BECAUSE WE CAN! LOL! Apologies, Clipp! I missed this early on reply by you. Yeah, that was my Larry, the Cable Guy impression. ;D The 'flannel' was a stable in my family growing up. Each year for school I'd get several new flannel shirts. Of course, we'd spend weekends up north until deer season opened and the flannel kept us warm. My beard & mustache, I think, are also a side effect of cold and snowy late fall hunting excursions.

A man after my own heart. I was very happy when we moved to Newport and I was enrolled in West Canada Valley instead of Whitesboro Central. No more "preppie shirts" and shined loafers. I wore jeans and work boots, and flannel shirts with the sleeves turned up. For school, I wore chino slacks and stylish sport shirts, but none of the "preppie dress up crap", haha.
I shaved my beard off shortly after we moved here to Tennessee because of the hot weather here. I wore a full beard, well groomed like yours, for many years without ever shaving it off. Now I just grow a small goatee and moustache. I look like I was crossed with a skunk somewhere along the line, with the white stripe in my chin whiskers, haha.
Winters here are so mild, that I wear only a flannel shirt for a jacket in the winter. Sometimes a quilt lined shirt if it is really cold. The only time I break out my "winter coat" and boots is for our annual trip to NY at Christmas.
