If you go to McDonald's to read a newspaper, sit way away from others, and wear surgical gloves to thumb through the paper. Spray the table and chair with Lysol spray or wipe it down with a wipe before you sit down. If the person behind the counter sneezes or coughs, drop your tray and run for the door.

Already doing that Clipper at least wearing surgical gloves. I stopped going to McDonald's over this virus. Only two people in there yesterday. I hope they all leave.

I have a box of nitrile gloves in my shop. Today I started putting a pair in my pocket when I go shopping. When I come out of the store I park the cart, take off the gloves and use my little bottle of santizer. Better than trying to adequately wipe down the handle on the cart with the miniscule wipes they provide that are usually half dried up before you pull them from the dispenser.
We are not in panic mode. We are meeting another couple for dinner at the Longhorn Steak House in Kingsport. I can eat a 6 ounce filet without their salty seasoning blend, broccoli, a salad with white balsamic vinaigrette on the side, and a baked potato that I will probably eat only half of with a little bit of butter. It will be the first red meat I have eaten since my hospital stay in February. I plan to savor every bite of it.
Down 20 lbs from what I weighed when I went into the hospital in February and actually eating quite well. I have just adjusted my menu to more fish, skinless poultry, whole grains, and lots of fruit and vegetables. My treat these days is a fat free, 100 calorie, fruit in the bottom yogurt in the evening if I get hungry. Last night we each had about an 8 ounce whiting filet, done in the air fryer with just a quick spritz with canola spray, a sprinkling of Italian seasoning, and some lemon juice, a salad with Olive Garden low fat dressing, and potato wedges done in the air fryer.
Too bad I didn't eat like this BEFORE I had heart problems, haha.

We stopped at Aldi's for paper towels and a few other items on our way home from dinner. I think I look rather sporty in my blue gloves. When I got back to the truck I used my hand sanitizer and even lightly wiped my debit card with it. I was surprised to see that they had a fairly large stock of paper towels, and also of toilet paper.
I was at Walgreens earlier today to buy 3 or 4 rolls of toilet paper, I ended up with ten rolls, simply because if you buy individual rolls in a lesser quantity they are a buck a roll. If you buy ten, it only costs $5 for ten rolls.

One bit of advice. If you go anywhere which has a security scan that requires removing your belt make sure have pants which will stay up sans belt. I came close to a very embarrassing situation in airport screening a few years ago.

Just read that Covid 19 stays in the air as an aerosol for 3 hours. The virus that causes SARS stays in air for several hours. Princeton is now trying to figure how much of that is needed to infect a persons cells.

When you take the entire population into account those statistics are probably not as horrific as some would like you to believe. It is probably good to be wary and cautious and to observe recommended guidance, but not really any reason to panic at this point.
I read on someone's FB page this morning that they are suggesting if you are into strip clubs avoid that $20 lap dance. Well DUH! I don't do strip clubs but if I did, I would be more worried about the OTHER things that could be contracted than I would be of contracting Corona virus, haha.

It is a debatable point to be contended with. There are so many factors to be considered. Should active cases of the virus show up in the schools it would be necessary to take action, but in the mean time, many children depend on the schools for meal programs and many parents depend on the schools for safe child care during the work day. While schools should not be baby sitters, they ARE a safe and dependable environment for the most part.
Sadly, with the poverty level that exists in many areas of NYC, insuring that the children are fed is a critical factor, as well as their safety. In my opinion DeBlasio is a horse's ass, and Cuomo is an even bigger one, but careful consideration of all the factors and information available is necessary in making that critical decision in such a densely populated area of the state.

Not a can of soup to be found at New Hartford Walmart. Canned tomato products are almost gone, too. I had everyone in the soup isle laughing when I yelled out: Now I know how old Mother Hubbard felt.

I came close to a very embarrassing situation in airport screening a few years ago. That may be why our mothers always checked to see if we were wearing clean underwear when we left the house in case we were in an accident. Now they have to be concerned that we may go through a security scan and they want our boxers to be color coordinated with our outfit.

I think the thing that bothers me most is this. There is no perfect solution. Every choice has some negative consequences, a leader has to make choices and deal with the problems of that choice. At the local and county levels we are seeing that. Officials at schools and towns are trying to figure out how to educate kids and feed people. At the federal level, however misguided, there are some things happening. At the state level we have heard nothing. I think Gov Cuomo has dis-qualified himself as a presidential candidate.

We are hearing a fairly well balance of actions by state as well as local officials. The decisions are hard and the unseen ramifications to business, the economy, and parent's ability to work are a difficult factor that has to be considered when making major decisions. As for Cuomo, I don't think too many people will be disappointed if he disqualifies himself as a presidential candidate do you? From what I read from afar, I am damned sure glad that he is not OUR governor.
