I noticed that Rite Aid stores around here had signs on announcing a remodel and the name of the store was even covered up. I noticed today the cover is off the name. NO MORE RITE AID NOW ALL WALGREEN'S.
In other news we have really good Bus drivers. Especially today. Was fun being out. Side roads impassable and some main roads not to hot either. Noticed the Thruway near the exchange was a mess with a huge truck stuck.

Did you actually go out into the storm and do your regular tour to Walmart in NH? I am sure that you were in safe hands with the Centro driver. As long as they take it easy those transit buses get very good traction with the engine setting behind the drive wheels. The only problem driving a bus on winter roads is the steering. They tend to have a mind of their own when you go around a corner. More than once I had the front end break loose on the Little Falls buses and almost bounced off the curb when the bus decided it wanted to go straight ahead. We used to complain to management when some of the transit buses started sliding around. They used to take tires off the charter coaches and Syracuse buses when they deemed the tires no longer good enough for long trips and highway use. they figured they could wear them out at slow speed between Utica and Little Falls. Most people don't know that many large companies LEASE the tires instead of purchasing them. No excuse for not changing them when the tread gets marginal. Bus tires are also re-groovable. Those Little Falls buses often had tires that had been regrooved. They take special cutting tool and cut Xs in the tires and then they get several thousand more miles out of them. Look at the tires the next time you are getting on the bus PB. They are only allowed to use re-grooves on the rear, but if you see Xs, they are tires that got bald and had new tread cut into them with a cutting tool.
I always hated days like you are having today. I usually made two round trips to Syracuse. The weather made it slow going, and we ran very late. Passengers bitched and we ended up working a couple hours past our normal quitting time. Driving a bus in that weather is a big responsibility with those lives sitting behind the driver in his hands. It can be stressful and is exhausting. Tell that driver how much you appreciate his skill and for getting you where you want to go in that weather.

Oh yes I went out a few times. A little snow will not keep me indoors. We slid a few times on my first trip and that is because this one driver likes to make fast turns but that is fun. We came off one ramp and the Bus shook a little and us old folk just yelled give her hell. Hey its 7:42 and I might just catch the 7:50 PM Bus to Walmart just to see how many are working and have a coffee at my fav coffee shop.
My first trip this AM it was me and three ladies on the BUS all with walkers. Why they come out in this weather is beyond me but they all do. Second trip was returning from N Utica and I could not believe my eyes. Out the window of the Bus I saw this guy attempting to cross Genesee St in North Utica with a lady sitting in a wheel chair. He could have at least went up to where the light and intersection was on Wurz Ave but no he crosses from Genesee Tower Apartments. That is four lanes of traffic he was attempting to cross. I wonder if he made it.
I will definitely look at those tires. Thanks for the information this is gonna be fun.
