I won't have a problem since I have an adequate supply of reusable bags. Some of them are older than AOC. I bought two more cloth bags at Kroger's yesterday although we have yet to see a bag ban here. I will probably use them more at Aldi's than at Kroger's. I used the dreaded self checkout yesterday with the new bags and it was a pain in the ass trying to keep them standing up and open with the arms of the rack that holds the plastic disposable bags. I am curious as to how they will configure the self checkout lanes to handle paper bags. I don't like the self checkout to begin with and will probably limit any use of the reusable bags to a regular, manned, cashier's line. At least Aldi's has the wide and adequate area to pack your own groceries into the bags, and I really don't object to packing my own under those circumstances. For one thing, I think an individual can do a much better job of bagging the goods than most poorly trained baggers you find in other markets. It almost seems faster to check out at Aldi's as the cashiers are quick to scan the goods allowing for the line to move smoothly and quickly. I was amused the other day at Aldi's when I watched a woman load an entire cart full of groceries into the back of an SUV loose, with no bags or boxes. I hope the chicken and meat packages don't leak their bloody juices all over the carpet. It must be fun for her to unload them at home. I have also seen people load the groceries into plastic totes in the back of their car.

Our local BJ's is a hassle to checkout. Mostly self service, no bags. I guess you either bring your own bags or your on your own. They do have cardboard boxes tossed into a huge bin that a customer has to rummage thru but the boxes are mostly useless as their too small. I paid $25 for a year membership which expires this fall. I'm not renewing. And their gas sucks.

Sam's Club doesn't provide bags either BHU. Depending on what I plan to buy and how much, I put a box or two in the truck before I go and also use my reusable bags. I have a couple of good sturdy boxes that we bought tomatoes in last year at a produce market. they are heavy cardboard, and have hand holes in the sides to make it easy to carry them.
We were BJs members when we lived there. BJs always seemed dark and gloomy with a lack of lighting. It was like a cave. They may have improved on that since we were there. I like Sam's Club much better. I wish we could get a Costco here but they recently told city officials from Johnson City that they require a certain population base before they will build, and the entire tri-cities area doesn't meet their requirement. Each of the tri-cities also has a Sam's Club so they would be competing with 3 Sam's Club stores.
