www.wktv.com/content/news/Regulars-disappointed-after-New-Hartford-Dennys-suddenly-566751391.htmlIt is sad for the employees as well as regular customers who ate there often. We have never eaten at the New Hartford location. We have eaten at the North Utica, Rome, Oneida, and Herkimer locations and always were satisfied with the service and the quality of the food. I love their hash browns and their "moons over my hammy" ham, egg, and cheese sandwich on sourdough. I read several comments about the poor service and the less than appealing food quality. We don't have any Denny's near us, but on a positive note, we just acquired a new Waffle House in our area. It is my second favorite place for hash browns, and a good place for the standard greasy spoon breakfast.

I heard over and over that the food is bad and that many employees do not bother coming to work so service is horrible. Sometime you have to wait 45 minutes for a waitress to come to table to get your order. Reason is that she is the only one.

Way back to the first year that we created the forum, we met at the North Utica Denny's for a meet and greet to meet other members. It was at Christmas time and they let us have the front room to ourselves. I think that there was about 15 of us or so that showed up. The good old days.

I ordered a take out breakfast one time a few years ago from the N.Utica location. Just the standard fare, eggs, sausage, hashbrowns. I won't go in to details about how an hour later i made a mad dash for, you guessed it. I never went back. We did have lunch at the N.H. location a couple years ago. The service was good & the food wasen't bad. I miss Friendly's, I think the only one left around here is on Burrstone Rd. Bettys diner in Marcy was a good breakfast, lunch spot. They sold out to a new owner, changed the name & closed maybe a year after opening. Now the place sits empty.

When I lived in Utica prior to moving to the North Country I ate at Betty's every morning on the way to work. Two eggs soft scrambled, Italian toast, and coffee for a buck. I ate there way back when Frank Rielle owned it and his sister Ellen Fish was the waitress. She was married to Stan Fish of polka band fame and was a radio announcer for that station that was on the flats off Oriskany Street West. She also played the guitar and sang country music.

Yup only one Friendly's left and I always liked them. The Triangle Restaurant downtown has a new owner. Found that out today. Just one person and he does it all. He has you get your own coffee since naturally he is to busy. Guy who told me said he won't go back again since the atmosphere has totally changed. I understand Character Coffee on Genny next to Utica College Business anex ( the old Catholic Book Store) has great coffee. Expensive though. Haven't been there but this same guy said to try it the coffee is great.

Only one Friendly's left in the Utica area. We used to eat lunch at the Whitesboro Friendly's quite often and I enjoyed stopping at the Sangertown Mall restaurant for a Jim Dandy Sundae or a strawberry Fribble. while shopping.
We stopped at a Friendly's in Myrtle Beach a few years ago and enjoyed sundaes made with Friendly's ice cream. There are still two Friendly's restaurants open in Myrtle Beach.
For a little while we were seeing half gallons of Friendly ice cream at Food City, but I haven't seen it in quite a while. It didn't taste as good as the Friendly's ice cream that we love so much either.

Wasen't there a Friendly's at the old Riverside Mall? I use to order their hard chocolate ice cream cone & it was fantastic. Many years ago, at least 40.

Yep, it was right outside of Bradley's entrance on the mall.
