Discharge location: 51 Leland Ave, Utica, NY
Location details: The discharge is coming from Utica's CSO 076 which is located about 2200 west of Raw Waste Pump Station along Sewage Plant Road
Waterbody affected: Mohawk River
Discharge description: Very few floatables, no odor detected.
Potentially impacted public areas: Unknown -
Discharge date and time: 12-30-2019 at 15:30:00
Discharge duration: 26.16 Hours
Discharge reason: System Capacity - The VFD failed on Pump #1 at the Raw Waste Building allowing the plant to take in only 42 MGD Ended
Steps taken to contain discharge: Pump as much wastewater into the plant that 2 pumps can.
Volume/rate of discharge: 10450000 Gallons Estimated
Treated state of discharge: Untreated
Additional information: The permit for the Oneida County Water Pollution Control Plant requires treating 48 MGD. The VFD failed on Pump #1 at the Raw Waste Building so the pump is not operable. Consequently, only 42 MGD is being processed at the plant. It is anticipated that the VFD will be replaced tomorrow allowing Pump #1 to run and allowing the plant to process 48 MGD.
