UPDATE: MVCC LOCKDOWN LIFTED AFTER STABBING ON UTICA CAMPUS
UTICA, N.Y. – Utica police say the stabbing on Mohawk Valley Community College's Utica campus Friday was an isolated incident between two groups of people.
Police interviewed a person of interest in the incident after the scene was cleared and the lockdown was lifted.
MVCC was under lockdown for roughly an hour after a fight was reported on the Utica campus around 1 p.m.
Police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene at 1101 Sherman Dr. in Utica, where a Utica Police Department investigator says one person was stabbed and one person was cut during the altercation. Police say the two injured people were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Utica City School District canceled after-school activities after putting Proctor High School, Columbus Elementary School and Albany Elementary School on lockdown during the incident.
An emergency alert was originally sent out through the SUNY system advising students to shelter in place.
MVCC President Randall VanWagoner met with the crisis management team after the lockdown was declared.

Due to a fight involving two groups at the MVCC campus in Utica the MVCC campus in utica is on lockdown. Proctor High School and Columbus Elementary School are on lockout.
Utica Police are on scene and the situation is under control. There are no further threats at this time.
Incident at MVCC is considered an isolated incident and is under control. Utica Police Criminal Investigations Division has initiated an investigation and are working with MVCC Security and administration.
