For me the thing which knocked down the inflammation was 2 courses of an ancient drug colchicine. When the FDA started approving drugs it was grandfathered in because it had been used for centuries. The FDA started requiring certification of these drugs and in 2009 granted 3 year protection to a company which had competed the required tests. The price jumped from pennies per pi;; to dollars.
My uric acids have been controlled bor at least 12 years with alopurinol,

I think I was taking colchicine when I had a flare up.
