I played there several times over the years. When I played there years ago with my son it was an upscale, more family oriented pool hall than the old smoky pool halls downtown on Lafayette St. or Shamrock Billiards near Oneida Square. Are any of those places still in business? I always preferred the downtown pool halls and bar room tables though. I haven't played any pool in many years now, but at one time I was pretty good. I could go out and play pool for beer without having to spend very much on beer. We have two very nice billiard parlors here in Bristol. Both with new tables, carpeted floors, and a snack bar. I may have to stop in and shoot a few racks one of these days just to see if I still have it. It must be nice to shoot pool without having to look through a haze of cigarette smoke and inhale all the stinking second hand smoke.

No Pool Halls downtown anymore. I always wanted to open a Pool Hall with nice tables and topless lady attendee's to serve alcohol etc. I missed my calling.

LOL! It would be a bit of a distraction to be trying to concentrate on shooting the 8 ball with a pair of bare boobs wandering by with a cocktail tray.

I too would stop in at Hippo's once in a while. I didn't know they reopened or I would have stopped in. I was pretty good at the game myself. I remember the Shamrock & the one on Lafayette St. Both gone for years. One of my neighbors threw out a 7 ft. table a couple years ago. I put it in the back of my truck & stored it in my garage. I planned on setting it up in my basement but never got around to it. The wood warped from moisture & I had to toss it. A decent 7ftr probably run about $1000. A slate bed? Probably double that.
