NYS DOT breaks ground for corridor improvements on Route 12

For at least the past fifty years, since I was in high school and maybe before, construction on routes 12, 5, 8 the Thruway, etc. has been taking place over that corridor through Utica which wasn't yet called the "Utica marsh" until after I left the area.
My wife and I have often joked that Route 12, from Deerfield Hill down along the arterial and south, is indeed Utica's main industry.
