Clean room experience is not something learned overnight. Kathy worked in the clean room at GE French Road for years.
I guess the latest Cuomo announcement is one of those "I will believe it when I see it" situations. Cuomo comes to town, gets everyone's hopes up in order to buoy up the local Democratic candidates and then after the election comes the notice that the company for some unforeseen reason decides NOT to build in Marcy.

I almost expect to hear something drastic happening to cause them to pull out after the first of the year. Right after the elections.

I would have to assume that in a highly technical manufacturing process, working people on 12 hour shifts would undoubtedly cause quality issues. I am in favor of 10 hour shifts, allowing people to work a 40 hour week in 4 days, but that extra 2 hours for a day for a 12 hour day is a bit over the top.

Yeah, over the top is pretty much it. We have folks up where I am that pull down 12 hour shifts, they look and act like shit after about 9 or 10. By the time they leave they look completely washed out, and they're not doing any heavy lifting either.
I read a bunch of the reviews and the place sounds like the manufacturing version of Wally World. The people on the bottom work their asses off, and those above them just bitch.

Clipper couldn't come to town he announced that via telephone because his helicopter had something wrong and it would blow up!

I'll believe it when I see it sums it up for me.
12 hour shifts are not for most people. My daughter hated them. Said they made too tired to interact with her kids. My daughter-in-law said she liked them because she got more days off. However when she was offered a M-F day job she jumped at it.
At this point any manufacturing jobs coming to Utica are a plus. Perhaps they will also need experienced security people. My hope is that they also hire some engineering types who see the advantages of owning a nice home in the NH school district.

Big story last night on Picente's PR firm WKTV on how the real estate market is going to boom once this outfit moves here. Really? We're to believe that 600 jobs spread out over 8 years is going to spur the housing market to new heights in CNY? I mean, come on!

A boom in the housing market because of Cree, and they haven't so much as moved a shovelful of soil yet, nor even finalized the deal? Wow.......just 'Wow', talk about speculation running rampant.

Next we will read in the news that Walmart is bringing more food and other products to attract all these new shoppers right up the street.
