Guys drive around here with plows on the truck looking to clear driveways for beer money. That's just wrong. On so many levels. It always amuses me to hear the babes on The Weather Channel calling for Winter Storm Warnings for 9" of snow in central NY. But then I try to remember they all live in Atlanta.

Yes, you'd better hope you're not last on their route! One of the Weather Channel women is from up this way. Used to do weekend weather for an Albany station. I can't think of her name, though. Pretty girl. Had a slight hunch to her shoulders and when she would turn in profile to point to the map, it was noticeable. In Atlanta, they arranged her hair long and it's not at all apparent now. Kelly Somebody.

Snowing in Watertown & has been all day, light to moderate fluffy stuff, but it isn't sticking on the roads.

48 degrees, rainy and foggy here in Bristol, Tn. Going down to 40 tonight. I hope the temps rose and the freezing stopped in Kim's area on the Piedmont plateau. I also hope everyone is safe and that weather is calming down up there.
How much snow has your area gotten, Dave. It looked like the brunt of the weather was from your area down toward the city. Hope all is well, and you are not buried in a big drift. I have to imagine it could be pretty drifty at a place called "windswept farm".
Just read your essays about Blanche and also the trip to the Utica Zoo. haha. I love your whole blog. It is a gift of humor and relaxation to all who go there and read. Thanks. for linking us to it. I have it stored in my "favorites" column. I think everyone should save it there.

I'd say we've got about 7or 8 inches down, nice fluffy stuff. It snowed rather lightly all day, but it kept coming and only stopped in the last hour or so. Moon out now through patchy clouds. Winter Wonderland. Temp is now 25 F. Here is current Doppler ....don't know how well it will reproduce here.

That oughta please the people who dislike downstaters on their Adirondack snowmobile trails. You'll be up all night listening to those engines whine, Dave.

Hi Frankcor, Compared to the Adirondacks, the usually somewhat less amount of snow on the ground over here, due to warm fronts getting a better toe-hold as they come up the valley, has always made snow-mobiling iffy here in the lee of the Catskills. Never the less, they were popular in the '70's A long period of very light winters in the 80's and 90's killed the business, but then 4-wheelers took over and people rightly figured they could use them summer or winter. So that's what I'm listening to now, this morning, as I write this. I was just out on the roads (the lazy man's way to blow snow off his truck, and probably illegal) and noticed quite a few "downstaters" heading up to the ski areas at Hunter, etc.

Dave
That webcam in new hartford, do you know what street that is on. I have a plowing business and have accounts in that area, but I live in Oriskany Falls and the weather can be so drastically different so I check what webcams I can before I go down there with my plow to find either I got it all down south and they got nothing or vice versa. Thanks alot if you can tell me. WKTV has it listed on their site too but no one up there can tell me where it is.

Their camera page says they are the Welchon Family. Anywho.com found three in New Hartford, two with street addresses. One is on Woodberry Rd. and the other on Imperial Drive.

Sorry Bobbbiez, about your storm coming tonight. I just came back from the VA in Johnson City, Tn. It is 64 and sunny. Had the windows down on the truck while I was driving in the city, haha. Cold front tonight, with low in the high 20's and possible flurries in the higher elevations.
My only consolation is that we will have spring here in about 2 or 3 weeks. I can get back outside and do something besides harass you guys about your winter weather on the computer, haha.
PS, I checked to make sure none of the wheels were coming loose on the lawn tractor, so they won't be falling off sunshine! Just greased her up and checked the tire pressures. I changed the oil last fall. All that is left is to drop the deck off and clean it good and spray it with rustoleum paint to prevent rust.
Oh well, enough picking on bobbbiez for awhile, hehehe. I have to get on out of here and go pay some bills and pick up dog food. Catch ya all later!
