I was never much of a wine drinker. I did used to enjoy Lambrusco with Italian food, but other than that I didn't care for wine. My paternal grandfather had a large grape arbor in his backyard and used to make wine with concord grapes. He also made dandelion wine. My mom used to enjoy an occasional glass of Manischewitz wine. Other than an occasional glass of wine or a can of beer I don't ever remember my parents doing much drinking. I don't think they ever carried a flow chart to the liquor store the help them select a wine. My former in-laws enjoyed wine with meals and were quite well versed when it came to reading a wine list and selecting a wine to accompany a dish. They used to do the entire ritual of asking the waiter what vintage the wine was, and my father in law would swirl it around the glass and taste it before he would approve it and have the waiter pour their glasses full. I just never acquired a taste for wine. For a wine lover it must bring great pleasure to order and enjoy a high quality wine. At one time I had a red and a white in a cabinet for cooking purposes, but we don't cook with wine at all anymore.
