www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddrink/tipsandtricks/the-major-mistake-youre-making-with-your-nonstick-cookware/ar-BBVY9jm?li=BBnb7KwIt has been found that non-stick cooking sprays like PAM contain soy lecithin and build up on non stick pans and cookware, actually defeating the purpose of the non-stick coating on the cookware. I was never aware of that fact until I got my air fryer oven. The manual cautions against using the cooking sprays like PAM on the surfaces of even the stainless steel racks and basket because under the high temperatures reached, coupled with the convection feature, it creates a brown, baked on film on the surfaces that is almost impossible to scrub off. I have always sprayed the grates in the waffle iron with PAM, and my gas grill's stainless steel grates and racks also. I have found that either lightly misting or brushing with olive oil prevents sticking without build up on the surfaces. I lightly mist the grates and basket in the air fryer, and I brush the waffle iron or the gas grill grates with a basting brush and cooking oil. I was surprised to find that almost ALL of the non-stick sprays contain lecithin and will create the nasty build up under high heat conditions. I tossed the can in the trash. Our parents lived with bacon grease, butter, and Crisco. I can certainly survive without PAM.

Darn I just bought a can of Crisco Olive Oil spray and checked and it has soy in also. I have Green-Life frying pans they have an enamel coating inside I wonder if that make a difference. I also just noticed that I must have scratched the inside with something. Rachael Ray says that is you no stick material even enamel has a scratch just toss it for it is no longer any good to use. Concerning those pans I just noticed this:
No need to pre-heat either. We always recommend using a little bit of oil or butter when using your GreenPan. It's good to note that Extra Virgin Olive Oil and oil sprays carbonize very quickly when the pan is heated and should be avoided when cooking with ceramic non-stick.
Foiled again ya can't win.

I had to read the ingredients label on my can of Pam Grilling. No lecithin.

I will check that out CB. I have looked at just about every OTHER cooking spray available in the supermarket and was unable to find any that didn't have to lecithin as an ingredient.

I did a Bing search and the 2 closest places to me to get it were Home Depot and Walmart, not your favorites I know. I think we picked it up from the grill section of one of the home and garden stores.

HD and Walmart are definitely not my favorite places to shop, but I do compromise when necessary and do purchase sale items occasionally from Walmart, but enter and exit through the auto center or garden center and go in and out as quickly as possible. As for Home Depot, I am normally fortunate enough to find what I am looking for at Lowes or a local hardware store, precluding an necessity to shop at HD. I am just a firm believer that most businesses should offer some sort of discount to seniors and military personnel, and in many cases to veterans. I think that if Lowes can afford to offer 10% off for veterans, so could Home Depot. I tend to lean toward spending my money where I find the quality of not only the merchandise, but also the customer service, before and after the sale, to exceed that observed at other businesses or retailers. Target meets that need for me when it comes to a choice between Target and Walmart. Lowes meets that criteria when given a choice between there and HD.
We all shop for low prices at some point. I DO have a HD credit card. I HAVE purchased big ticket items such as our dishwasher at HD only because they offered deep discounts and no interest for a year on a coupon special for credit card customers at a time when we needed the appliance, but in most cases I just pass them by in favor of a viable alternative when possible.

My daughter is a Kitchen Consultant for Pampered Chef. Their non-stick cookware is pretty much like the others (except it's usually more expensive) when it comes to a slight build-up on the surface over time. She says do this when the non-stick quality of the cookware is noticeably diminished... make a paste of baking soda and water. With a damp sponge, clean the inside of the cookware well with the paste, rinse and dry. Then it's best to 'season' the cookware according to the instructions that came with it when you bought it. It's usually a quick and simple process. Then it'll be as good as new. I had to do this once and it worked like a charm.

I shop at both HD and Lowes and going from the plant section to the main store takes me right through grill section. I got the HD card when we were doing our bathroom project. At the time HD had an offer of interest free for two years, which was substantial. As I was standing in line to make the final payment there were two guys from a heating company at a table across from the service desk.
I had already decided that we needed to replace our heating boiler so I asked them to give me a quote. When they came they said I could put both labor and material on my HD card. Once again there was an interest free offer so I did that.
I wasn't smart enough to ask for a veteran's discount. This week I got a letter telling me that I hadn't use my card in a long time and i I didn't use it they would reduce my credit limit. It's spring so I probably need something,
