I am sick of paying out more and more money.. When is this going to end?? Minimum wage needs to go up.. and so should the people who make more than minimum wage.. I make a very good salary and I still struggle with things.. UGH

I'm afraid that if the minimum wage goes up stuff will just start costing more and then it won't matter. OR, if minimum wage goes up, businesses will employ fewer people, so the people they employ will make more money but fewer people will be employed.

You think gas is bad you should try oil and propane. It is getting painful.
NG stopped installing gas about 10 houses down several years ago for a new development and said it wasn't cost beneficial to finish the dead end here. I'd love to have gas right now.

Either way, we're all getting crushed, especially those on a fixed income. Me for one, if I turn down my thermostat any lower it'll be warmer outside then in my house.

Oh heck sunshine, just tell RJ to turn on the "armstrong heater", haha.
If things get really bad, you can always depend on the kielbasa and cabbage for gas heat, LOL.

Dad is better today. I am sure that he is failing, and that doesn't surprise me at 84.
The doc says that his wetness in the lung was pneumonia, but now it is more likely his congestive heart failure, so they increased his diuretic a little. they have to be careful about drying him out too much though, because I guess the diuretics are hard on his kidneys and his liver.
I was talking to my brother and sister over the weekend. I told them that it is only a matter of time, and his CHF will get him in the end. I only pray that it is fairly quick, and that he dies without pain and suffering. We have a DNR for him, and I am his health care proxy and power of attorney.
After spending my days with my mom for two and a half months, and contemplating the horrible suffering and the painful death that she would have suffered, had she not opted for palliative care and hospice, I just want dad to be able to die with dignity and without fear and pain.
It will be hard to let him go, as he is my hero, and my favorite person on the whole damned earth, but I want him to go in peace, and to be with mom again, when his time comes.
Thanks for the concern, and keep him in your prayers. We also have a member that could use a lot of prayers. There is some serious health issues, and the prognosis is not real bright. I would leave it up to them to identify themselves if they want it known, but in the mean time simply pray for "Our friend" here on the forum.

You got it my friend. As with my parents, I pray if your Dad's time is near that it be swift for his comfort. Had my parents at home doing their last months with us and I thank God for Hospice. Couldn't have kept both of them at home as we promised them without the loving people who work for Hospice. They helped us make my parent's transition so much more peaceful and painless for all concerned. Couldn't have done it without them. They are truly "angels" as my Mom called them. Clipper, my thoughts and prayers are with you, your Dad and our "friend" here on the forum. Please keep the faith. I have ask the MAN UPSTAIRS to hold you all so gently in his arms. My love to you all.

Can't defend himself?? He is old, he is not dead! He is a french canadian. We have to live and breed in order for women like you to have the opportunity to have french canadian boyfriends like RJ, haha! He may be retired from the "breeding game" but he is far from defenseless, haha! At 84, he can make you cry uncle when he shakes your hand.
