www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24652422/What is wrong with people? This takes the cake. I have to wonder why the girls parents did not see a behavior change or some sign something was wrong before it was to late. We as parents have to start getting more involved with what our kids are doing on the Internet. This is another tragedy that has taken a young life that should have never happened. My heart goes out to the family and may Megan now rest in peace.

Todd, you said it all when you stated parents have to keep involved in what their kids do on their computers. I don't have any kids to worry about in my home as far as using the computer, but my sons do and they monitor everything my grandchildren do on theirs. Not sure of all, but I do know they limit the time their kids can be on the computer and they have some kind of blocks put on so their kids can't get into anything that could possibly harm them. Not up on all, but sounds to me like there are things parents can practice to keep their kids out of harms way.

Its horrible but I don't know if the Mother should be sent to jail for that. And there was obviously something wrong with that girl to begin with so I wonder where he own mother was.

I know when I was 15 we got our first computer. My mom and stepfather put it in the living room so they knew what i was doing on it at all times.. God Forbid I minimized something when my mom came in the room.. she made me pull it right back up.....
Yes i think the neighbor should be in trouble.. Yes the girl obviously had a problem. However, the lady who pulled the prank and bullying should be held for her actions.. That is just how i feel

wasn't this whole thing over cyber bullying? It is sad but I guess things like this just happen when a person reaches the limit on how much they can take!

Todd and bobbbiez,
What you are discussing would require parents to stop being lazy and actually care about their kids. Unfortunately, it's someone else's fault, no theirs. Parents also need to be allowed to discipline their children, none of this child calling social services crap over a slap on the hand!

Swimmy,
It maybe just a lack of computer knowledge. But I do agree we as parents need to get more involved in our children's life and take some of the responsibilities.

Swimmy, you are so right. ;D I do know this, I brought up five kids and if they needed a "spanking" they got it as I did when I was little. I am very respectful of others as my kids are, unlike a lot of the kids today. If we were given the "paddle" in school by our Principal, (Mr. Hawk's at Kernan School), our parents didn't run to school to attack the teacher, but gave us punishment to fit the punishment we received in school. We all grew up respecting the authority. I know If I were raising my kids today, I'd be spending a lot of time in jail, because no one would tell me how to punish my children. No one lives in my home that knows what my children might get into or how to handle them or do they support my children. If I slap them on their hands or spank them on their dupas, that IS NOT child abuse and I would fight to the end in court to prove just that. I would not accept anyone taking my parental responsibilities away from me in any situation.

I'm reminded of a stand up comic clip I saw on youtube.com. The comic is Indian and he is absolutely hilarious. He starts out by saying that Indian kids are trained to fear their parents and are beaten when disobedient. He and the other minorities would compare injuries while the white kids bragged about never being beaten. Mrs. K___'s son told him the next time his father tries to tell him to do something, tell his father to f_ off. So he does and gets hurt real bad. He tells his white friend what happened and the boy says, "Oh I forgot, threaten to call child services." So the comic goes again and tells his father to f_ off that he wasn't going to clean his room and that he'd call child services. Now with a thick Indian-English accent, "Oooo, you're going to call child services, I'm shaking. Here, let me dial it for you." The comic replied, "But dad, you're going to get into a lot of trouble, they'll take you away from me." The father retorted, "Oh I might get into a little trouble. But I know, that it takes them 23 minutes for Child Services to get here. And in that time, somebody is going to get hurt real bad."
I'll see if I can find the clip tonight.

Good one Swimmy. ;D I often wondered if my kids were little today and the threat to call child service was made on me by one of them what would I do. Had no problem with an answer. Simply would tell them I might have to answer the charges but where would you be in the mean time? Certainly not in the home you love with the people you love, but tried to control as a child. Honestly can state, my children would never make such a call.

This was so funny because it is the truth. The older generation can certainly relate to this.
