Was Arnolds in the building that was originally Sunny Hunny Broasted Chicken?? I was never in Arnolds.
Hey Jon, are you in the area still? I have lost track of where some of the members are. I hope that a lot of the people that have posted on the BeBop thread and those that played music together in the 50's and 60's will be able to get to the little gathering at Denny's on the 27th of December. It would be great to meet you all, and to enable all of YOU to get back together and meet each other.
Hey, thirty or forty years from now, you can show a poster on the web for the clipper's corner reunions that hopefully will become a regular event annually if the forum continues to draw interest and exist. I have faith in the crowd we have right now, will want to stay in touch. While some may come and some may go, I have hopes that the forum will survive and many of us will become lifelong friends.
I feel that those that want to remain anonymous, can either come and use their screen names, or not come at all, but those that want to socialize with some really good people and become acquainted, will have a ball. Kinda like the old "coffee breaks" from the CB days.

Was Arnolds in the building that was originally Sunny Hunny Broasted Chicken?? I was never in Arnolds. That's the place. It was fixed up real nice with car bodies cut in half to make booths. They served food during the day until the bands played. There was usually a hundred or so people waiting outside for somebody to leave so they could get in, once the place was full. We did 50's and 60's songs and did a real neat 4 Season's medley.

Hey Jon, are you in the area still? Yes. Still in the area. Never had enough money for the bus trip to New Hartford to get out of here. I will be leaving here tomorrow however hoping to meet Dave on his way to Tennessee for some kind of get together with the Clipper and his Crew. We have to pick up Dick in Beaverton, wherever that is. Dave assures me we'll be there on time for the 27th though. Is 7AM in the morning or night or afternoon? I keep forgetting. This getting old isn't what it's cracked up to be.

There was a question about who is in the picture in reply #354. Tom Acey is in the middle, Danny Brisson is in the lower left, and Ted Alexander is lower right. Also in the picture in reply #448 the guitar player on right is Roger Mc Cabe. By the way I found this site the other day and I'll be sure to tell my musician friends about it. There is some great info here.

Hey, what the heck Jon. If ya like a nice quiet breakfast by yourself, 7 AM will work, but if ya are ready to join the madhouse at Denny's on the 27th, we will see ya at 7 PM. That is supper time for us old farts, and the other 7 o'clock I forgot exists, since I retired and sleep in in the morning, haha.(not really, I am usually up at 6:30 in good weather and out in the carport with my coffee and paper) "Sleeping in" now means 8 AM, as our little toy poodle swallowed an alarm clock and she wakes us up at 8 if we are not moving by then. She jumps on the bed and licks my face. If I ignore her, she sits by my side of the bed and barks at me. I need to teach her to push the button on the coffee maker and get the newspaper.
Welcome Dino. I am glad ya found us. It has been a blast reading all the posts and reminiscing with all the memories that this thread has brought back to mind.

Jon, are you really going to Beaverton? I wish I knew Dick was there when I was out in Coos Bay and Florence in '95. I would have stopped to visit with him.
I've been wondering if we might want to publicize the event somewhat. I'm not sure we do, and it isn't my decision anyway, but I think of folks who aren't on this forum who are in the Utica area and who might be interested. I don't think Guy is on this forum, but he might be interested in meeting with us. Even LosBeJesus or whatever his name was would be fun to talk to. Also, I wonder if there are folks who read this forum, but are not members. If they haven't joined up, I don't know why they would want to meet any of us, but you never know.
Hi Dino, glad to have you aboard.
Tracman, I didn't know your Dad, but he looks familiar. What was his high school and which class year?

I really don't think we want to "publicize" the event Dave, but you are welcome to ask anyone you know that might be interested in attending. I am hoping that tracman will find Dick Bowen and invite him.
I am sure that we are not loved by all, and that there are some that we would not want to attract or invite, haha. Hell, they probably aren't even interested, but wouldn't it be a bitch if someone undesirable showed up and rained on a happy little event?
I am confident that the way the forum is growing, especially among you guys that played music, we will end up with most of those interested in meeting anyhow. I only have concern that we might lose some of the wonderful members we have now. Growth is great, but we don't want to lose the "original family" either.
While the growing pains have been few, and in instances of problems, I have been involved and probably made some poor judgement calls on occasion, I feel an enormous responsibility to keeping the forum what it is and what has drawn everyone to it.
While it is necessary to keep it moving in a positive direction with civility as a byword, it is a forum belonging to the members, and I have to bridle my opinionated self now and again in moderating. Thank goodness for the natural tendency to run smoothly, and for Ralph and Kim to keep ME in line, haha.
While it is YOUR forum as members, I am very proud to have my name at the top. Just an ego thing for an old fart I guess. As long as personal attacks or racist remarks don't arise, there is very little reason to moderate. Those that have failed to comply with the rules, have been admonished, and seem to have disappeared on their own in some cases which indicated to us that they did not WANT to comply. Others pushed the envelope and were banned.
As far as publicity and publicizing the gathering, I feel that those that know folks who would be interested in attending or interested in joining the group and forum, are welcome to invite them. It is a great time to promote the forum to friends and those that would bring positive growth to the group. To publicize it any wider than that, I am not sure would be in the best interest of the forum.
It is YOUR forum as members though, so the subject is open to discussion and opinion of the others on the forum.

I think you're right. Inviting one or two who might be interested would be a better idea than publicizing it.

Jon,
I knew a John Weber from the Players Theater years ago. He was in just one play as I recall. Tall redhead, but I wasn’t aware that he played sax. As I recall, he tuned pianos, and very well. He went on the road with Ferrante & Teicher for a while and was the only person (other than Ferrante & Teicher) who was allowed to touch them. As I understand from the guy he lived with on Cottage Place, John died not too long after that. Does this sound like the same John Weber?
Go back to Judson’s for a minute. Besides Judson’s Music, wasn’t there a Judson’s Jewelers and a Judson’s hock shop? That hock shop is where I bought my first guitar - a 3/4 size Gibson Melody Maker with a suburst finish. What do you remember about the Judson’s?
And if you’d saved up all your money and moved to New Hartford, they’d have taken it all away from you by now. Trust me. Life’s definitely not a bowl of cherries over here at the bottom of the hill.

Clipper,
Yes, you’re getting old and I have to remind you of something, you old fuddy-duddy, you. Our suppertime is now 4:30pm. Remember? Blenderized meat and vegetables, mashed instant potatoes with no lumps, and sugarless Jello for dessert. And we go to bed right after the 6:00 news. 7:00pm and we’re usually asleep! This should be a real rousing get-together at Denny’s. quarter after 7, five booths taken up by about 20 of us old farts - sound asleep. What a picture that would make. Then Kim walks in and we all wake up. Interesting.

Dino,
Yes, welcome to the “old age home of reminiscence.” Good thing there are still some here whose memory is sharp as a tack (or almost). The rest of us just help to fill in the blanks. Please feel free to ask or add anytime, and welcome aboard. PS: In reply 448, what’s the guy’s name in the upper right? He was also in the Chessmen with Eric Thorngren, Dale Ryder and Chuck Schoenly.

God Kit. Don't remind me of blenderized meat and instant potatoes. My dad got that crap in the nursing home, and I was turned off just feeding it to HIM, much less eating it. LOL. If I get to that point, I hope to croak and not have to go through half what my dad did.
If you get there at 4:30 for supper, I will wake you up when I get there at 7. I can "stay up late", like 7 PM for instance, because I sneak a nap in the chair in the afternoon, haha. I may have to sleep all day to be ready to stay up until 10 or so! Is a bathrobe and my skippys appropriate evening wear for seniors?
Hell if the roads are dry, I can walk over from the motel in my slippers and jammies. LOL

So NOW you tell me about the afternoon nap. Sheesh! All these years I've been burning the midnight oil at around 8pm. What a waste. I'll be picking your young brain for other tidbits at Denny's for sure. Too back Uncle Jim couldn't be here, huh? He'd sure have some stories to tell.
