I am glad they canceled the run also. Whatching various news programs I have seen shots of joggers. I guess nothing will stop the dedicated runner. Can't say I blame them. I would be wondering what was in that puddle I just ran through.

Excellent Beth. That is a wonderful effort to take on and I hope it will be a very successful event. It is too bad that it isn't being publicized in NYC. You might have a bigger crowd than you could ever wish for. Runner's could probably park at the North Utica Shopping Center without too much problem, and that is not far to walk to the canal trail for someone that is capable of running 20+ miles. Good luck to you all, and I am sure that those who will benefit from your effort will be very grateful for the help.

Love the idea of the Utica marathon. Wish it was recreated in many cities.

The NWS is saying that a posible Nor'easter is headed up the coast sometime in the middle of next week. Not good for the folks down there. Not good at all.

People here are so incredibly generous - we haven't even started, and have already raised almost $1000! Not to mention the water, fruit and snacks dropped off for the runners. Amazing!!

Kracker, a Nor'easter at this point in time could be tragic. People without heat and power would be at high risk for cold weather related health issues and in some cases death.
I would hope that they will open shelters and provide food for those that are without power or shelter, and I hope that ALL those in need would take the storm seriously and would move into the shelters in an expedient manner. There has been enough death and destruction.

The meeting I was at this weekend was missing the entire metro NYC contingent. From a brief cell phone conversation with our friends from Staten Island (the ones who named me an honorary Puerto Rican over a bottle of Bacardi a few years ago) we learned that they are still without power with temps in the low 40s and dropping.
Beth, I don't run. I just read about your fundraiser. I'll help but in a less strenuous manner.

Yes, our Beth and Kristy took the bull by the horns and organized an event to help those in dire need. I heard they already raised over $1000.00 with more donations coming in. Other organization, departments of all kinds and clubs in Utica are already in NY, NJ and the other areas feeling this horrible disaster. UTICA HAS BIG HEARTS! WTG Beth, Kristy and ALL others who answered the call when so many desperately needed them.

We raised over $5000 today - and there are more donations coming in. People are really amazing. It's good to be reminded that there is more that unites us than divides us.
