Three Fort Drum Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan.... www.newzjunky.com/news/0419drum_deaths.htmThey just left Fort Drum mid to late March. Probably didn't even have time to get unpacked/situated. A damn shame and a damn waste. They were all so young. It's time to bring our troops home and avoid any more senseless deaths.

I agree Denise. We aren't getting any closer to finding Bin Laden, and if we were to kill him, he would just be replaced. We are sacrificing too many young lives in a country where past successes seem to be getting lost in a resurgence by the taliban.
I have a young friend ( a son of one of our friends) that is serving with the Marines there. He hopefully will be home in June. He has so far been in a hummer that was overturned and set fire by an IED and was not injured. He recently was in the vicinity of another IED explosion that left him with small splinters of hot shrapnel in the side of his face. Thank goodness while being very painful, his wounds were not serious or debilitating.
One of their main missions is to find and destroy IED's and to fabricate and install "culvert guards" that prevent or deter the enemy from being able to plant IED's in culverts under the roads. I pray for all our troops daily. Please include my friend Bradley and his fellow Marines in your prayers.
It is news items like this that make me so angry with Obama for jumping into Libya. One life lost in Libya is one too many. I hate to think that my friend Brad would come home from Afghanistan only to turn around and go to Libya. We WILL unfortunately end up with ground troops there. Mark my words. Britain is dancing around committing troops now, and we WILL follow unfortunately when it is convenient and feasible to send them there while covering Obama's ass and saving political face at the same time.

I would be for allowing the CIA and other special ops folks to solve our problems by eliminating them covertly. Our troops are caught up in scenario described in the old days as "coming or going, Shi**ing or mowing". They are either in combat, just home from combat, or getting ready to go into combat. Time to wind that crap down. I am a believer that we need to fight terror before it comes to OUR shores, but there seems to be no end in sight to the stretching of our troops thinner and thinner, by idiots in DC that have never been in combat and seem to have no qualms about committing someone ELSE'S life to a battle in some third world sewer on the other side of the globe. Wake up Washington. Young lives are not poker chips to be played at will on an "iffy" hand. Even in poker there comes a time to either "go all in, or fold."

Yes! Too long, too little able to be accomplished, too many lives, too much money and stretched too thin!

How many terrorist attacks on American civilians since the troops were deployed? Zero? Hmmm...

How many terrorist attacks on American civilians since the troops were deployed? Zero? Hmmm... Now, Swimmy. You've studied Logic. There is no causal relationship that can be made here.

Oh. Ok. So then everyone is wrong to claim that after failing to retaliate after the USS Cole attack we allowed 9/11 to happen by allowing our enemies to become bolder and believe we're a paper tiger nation?

I don't know. Who knows anything with certainty regarding such happenings? If we knew, we could head all attacks off before they happen.
I just personally don't believe we should have gone to Afganistan to begin with.
