BobbieZ, On one computer (I can't remember which just now) I accidently bookmarked the log in page instead of the home page. I was confused the next time I linked in & found myself being asked to log in. Once I figured out the problem I was able to delete the log in page from my favorites and re bookmark the home page. CB, I gave it a try and it's a no go. Guess I'll just have to keep logging in. Thanks for the advice though.

Well I tested to see if I could log off and then just come back on without logging in again by checking the box that says "keep me logged in" and it worked for me. Try checking your pop up blockers and see if they are blocking the site.

It seems it's all in the cookies. I just logged off and cleared my cookies and verified two things. Using Firefox, but it must be true for other browsers, too: 1. Proboards does not allow me to log on unless my browser options are set to accept cookies. 2. I cleared all my cookies and then set the browser to accept cookies. I reviewed my cookies list afterward and it was empty, as it should be after clearing them. I logged on and checked the "keep me logged on" box and then checked the cookie list again. Sure enough, there was now a cookie labeled "Proboards" and I assume it's the cookie that will keep me logged on. 3. This is important. You can set your browser to accept cookies and therefore be allowed to log on, but if you have checked "keep cookies until I close browser" your cookies will dump each time you shut down the browser and "keep me logged on" won't work. (The cookie setting screen in Firefox can be hard to find. If you think that's your problem, let me know and I'll post directions.

I don't understand this whole thing. I am running firefox and I log on in the morning and it leaves me logged on all day and into the evening. Sometimes, but not always, it will require me to log back on during the day, but no rhyme or reason. Has to be just a proboards thing, or maybe its because I am the admin on the site.

Dave, it's too damn confusing for me. Every time I try to correct something I screw something else up. I'll be the first to admit I am very ignorant when it comes to the computer. I laugh at my son who tells me I'll never learn unless I experiment and when I do and screw things up he gets pissed because he has to correct all my mistakes. ;D Thanks for your help and everyone else who tried to help me, but my best bet is I promised Ralph and Betty as soon as I get settled I'm having them over for din-din, so I'll wait till then and let Ralph check it out. Much safer then me messing up the computer again.

BobbieZ,
Don't feel bad. I've had computer problems for which I've had to wait until my son came over for dinner and he lives in Michigan.
I've worked with (or for) computers since 1964 (can it really be that long) and consider myself reasonably competent with technology but sometimes the daemons in the box get in a snit and need to be soothed by a different voice.

Thanks CB! You make me feel much better with my lack of knowledge of computers. For me I guess it's a love-hate relationship for sure.

BZ your son is right. You have to learn not to be afraid of it. Any problem you have, many have same also. Just Google your questions and you'll get answers to your questions and see that there are many just like you. When I was trying to burn a CD and it wouldn't work (still doesn't) Microsoft spent 3 days with me and even they couldn't fix the problem. They are the experts since its their software and even they didn't fix it. They actually wound up messing up my computer and thank God I had backup or I really would have been pissed. It's a learning process and the only way you can learn is to try......just start out with little stuff at your comfort level.

Okay. You have it turned on. That is enough for your brain to digest for one day. Come back tomorrow for lesson two from Chris, hahahaha. When I screw up, google can seldom help me. I usually end up taking the damn thing to the shop. LOL I don't make LITTLE booboo's. haha

Remember it is important to warm up before exercise. For people in our age bracket, I recommend standing in front of a tall electric heater for 10 minutes (after 5 minutes rotate 180 degrees so all muscles are warmed uniformly). Then walk slowly to the coffee pot and fill your cup. On your return trip you can increase your pace by 10%.
Then carefullly stretch all the fingers you intend to use in this typing session. Roll your eyes from side to side & up and down. Do a few quick curls with your mouse finger.
Link to Clipper's Corner and you're ready to rock & roll.
After I rest up, I'll post cool down instructions.
