Kathy has found that there is a brand of chocolate bars for sale at Aldi's markets that are imported from Europe (Austria I think) that are excellent. They are flavorful, smooth, creamy, and delicious. They only cost about $1.69 apiece. We usuaully get a case of them when we are up there, and she rations them carefully, as we don't have an Aldi's here.

Chris~~I agree with you about the Belgium chocolates! I used to love to stay at the Cambridge Suites in Toronto because they left real Belgium chocolate on your pillow at night. Actually, any European chocolate is better because they are made with more butterfat than American chocolate. American chocolate is made more cheaply.

Heck, American Chocolate most likely has vegetable oil instead of cocoa butter. I used to love Hershey's chocolate, but now it has gotten so it tastes like crap and is about as smooth and creamy as sand.

I like the stuff that clogs the arteries better, but it's so hard to find.

Chris, I think we all should learn from your experience. Me, Miss Smartly pants, this past summer being a good grandma and taking a sucker bought for me by my 5 yr old grandson (with his "own" money) took one bite to please him and cracked a tooth. New resolution after that and hearing your incident, will no longer eat candy. Especially hard candy and those with caramel in it. I PROMISE!!!!!! Not one piece of any candy since I wrote this. ;D I'm so proud of myself, especially since my son brought home two boxes of chocolates for me yesterday. Hey, if I'm going to gain any weight over the holidays it's gonna be on strictly good FOOD! ps: Wrapped the two boxes of candy and am going to re-gift them for Christmas. Let someone else enjoy all those calories. Just don't tell my son.
