Okay techies a new one for you to help me with. The other day my screen would start to blink to black.....not consistently. I just bought a new monitor in Feb and a new hard drive in May was replaced. My first thoughts were either bad monitor or video card going. I switched the cable to see if it might be faulty. Then after reading Google about same came across a download a driver so I tried that and it stopped my blinking. Problem seems to be resolved but here is the kicker. First I used my CD which lists driver on it. When I ran it there was no driver only instructions how to download a driver. After I downloaded the driver I now notice I don't have any of the buttons for my monitor like I use to.
No refresh rate ...many buttons are greyed out. Also when I scroll it looks sort of like I'm scrolling thru water (a sort of ripple effect)
Any clues or suggestions.......Dell tech first wanted me to give them 50.00 for tech support since my warranty expired on my PC. I told them first I am not working do they want to pay for it. Then he said get a new computer. (granted I got it in 2003 but a new monitor and new hard drive doesn't constitute a new computer in my eyes) When I told him that he said Oh...I bought it from them so they should have had that in their files. My thoughts still a video card going or a glitch that the driver (maybe wrong driver) fixed. Its been about a week now but I want to get rid of the rippling.
