I had to go to Sam's Club to pay for the tires I ordered. Today was the one day sale that saved me $80. That place was so crowded that their huge parking lot was completely full. I cruised the parking lot for a few minutes trying to find someone pulling out and finally got fed up and parked across the road in the Dollar Tree parking lot and walked the 100 yards or so. Thank goodness I was only there to pay for the tires. There was only one person ahead of me at the tire center register. When I went in the front doors there were absolutely no carts to be had. The line for having a receipt checked upon exiting was strung way back into the register area. When there is not a cart to be found at Sam's you KNOW it is busy. The cashier lines were long, and the aisles were crowded. If not for the one day sale saving us $80 I probably would not have even went into the store.
At least I am done shopping other than an occasional trip to the grocery store. I won't be hitting any major retailers until after Christmas is over and done with, and those exchanging gifts have had a couple of days to do their thing.

You must have a lot more people living in your area cause so far shopping this season here has not been bad. Of course I go at time when not many people shop I guess. It rained all day today and I laughed in that I was the only person of the Bus to and from my destinations. Like a private chauffeur I had. LOL. It was actually very enjoyable.

I haven't hit the mall yet this year other then Boscov's & they weren't very busy, but I got there early. I've bought a few gifts for the other half all thru Amazon & one from Kohl's, free shipping on all. Next week will really tell the story when the crunch hits as Xmas is only 10 days away. I went the online route because not a single item was in stock in any of the stores & I won't pay for shipping. I have Amazon Prime & Kohl's offered free shipping for anything over $35.00.

I am old fashioned I guess. I still will not put my credit card information online. I assume that it is probably quite safe now to do so, but I just don't put personal information on the computer. I still pay my bills with a written paper check. There are occasions when I will order something on line that I can't get anywhere else, but I am not crazy about the idea.
I want to view and handle what I am buying prior to paying for it. Kathy orders stuff on line. I can't even count the number of times that she has ordered a clothing item and ended up sending it back because it didn't fit or was not the quality she wanted when it came.

I don't really shop during the holidays anyway except for what I buy regularly to live. I stopped buying and giving gifts years ago. I enjoyed Christmas in the Monastery. It was purely a spiritual event and life went on as usual. I think that is how Christ would like it. Woops I said Christ I meant Jesus. Jesus never knew himself as Christ that distinction came years later after his death.

I didn't know that that Jesus was not known as Christ until after his death. I read somewhere a long time ago that "Christ" actually meant anointed. I just assumed that Jesus was anointed by God at birth and was therefore Jesus Christ from the day of his birth.
I am familiar with John 1:1 and am just curious. Was Jesus called Jesus from birth, or was it at a later time that someone labeled him as the messiah and called him Jesus of Nazareth?
