I would take your offer. Barb makes her own cheese sauce nothing from a box.
This snowfall definitely has a high water content, very hard to even push to the snow blower into it. I only finished half of it and then had to take a break. I just went back and got all but the pile at the end of the driveway. I am getting too old for this.

Utica got about 10". Right now just a flurry so the worst is over. They're calling for more snow Wed. to Friday but nothing major. After i ran the snowblower I set up a timer for the outdoor Xmas lights. Lo & behold an entire strand wasent lit. Upon closer inspection i discovered that a light socket had fried. Brand new lites from Wally World that had only been lit twice & I know the circuit wasen't overloaded. I went to Lowe's bought a new strand of lites & replaced the burnt out one. All in all not a bad day & it felt good to get out in the fresh air.

Mine is running a bit rough so tomorrow I'm going to pick up a couple gallons of non ethanol gas & see it that clears it up. Yep, that snow was heavy. Course it don't help when one tire is almost flat which I discovered when i was half done.

Ralph's wife Betty was on FB earlier saying the snow was heavy and wet. The snow didn't amount to anything here. Just a flurry or two. The positive outcome was that everyone must have been afraid to go out in the cold. I did a little Christmas shopping and either everyone spent all their money on Black Friday or are doing all their shopping on line today. I had the stores pretty much all to myself. I had to make another dreaded trip to my favorite place to hate. They advertised a stocking full of stuff for dogs for $7.99. I did my usual sneak in through the auto center thing only to find that they had moved the pet department so I had to hunt for it. When I found it the stocking was full of a bunch of Chinese made crappy squeaky toys and a rawhide bone. I made my way back out the same way I went in, bitching all the way, haha. I went to PetSmart and bought a stocking filled with name brand treats and a couple of better quality toys for $2 more. Then I went to Target and bought a new Belgian Waffle maker for Kathy. I would not wrap it but it will be one more thing to open. I put a tag on it "to US from ME." She loves Belgian waffles and the old waffle maker fell of the pantry shelf and the handle to open and close the lid broke off. Me? I would just as soon pop a "leggo my eggo" in the toaster and be done with it, haha.

Where we lived on Herkimer Rd, the plow would go about 50yrds from the last driveway it passed on Herkimer Rd, turn the corner and deposit all the snow from Herkimer Rd, along with all the garbage thrown out by Fastrac customers in the mouth of our driveway in a bank 3 or 4 feet high.

As far as I am concerned it was a "non-event". Yesterday afternoon was icky, but I threw it in four wheel drive and went to work. Was better when I got out, but deeper. It was light and fluffy when I got home and shoveled and it wasn't too bad. This afternoon was a different story, what happened over night turned it into what I call heart attack snow, wet and heavy. Too heavy and not deep enough to drag out the snowblower. Just shoveled carefully and called it a day. Why they called out the National Guard, or even why they closed the schools and city/county offices is beyond me.

Heck Ralph. They closed half of the schools here and the rest of them were on a two hour delay. The snow was all in the surrounding mountains. No reason for panic here in the lower elevations. We went through the whole routine with people emptying the shelves in the grocery stores and everyone getting in a big tizzy on Facebook. Today it was cold and windy but no snow here. The roads were dry and bare but the wind was raw as hell. I did a little Christmas shopping today and the wind would blow right through my winter jacket and chilled me to the bone.

I woke this morning to the sound of my snow blower running. Son Michael had my driveway cleared before 6. There wasn't a lot but Barb's car goes to the body shop this morning.

That had to be a delightful sound to wake up to. I always dreaded having to go from warm bed to frigid driveway in a short period of time in order to prepare to depart for work. I suppose one might call it invigorating to have snow blowing in your face and moustache frozen solid, but I considered it dreadful.
It is cold here this morning, but not as cold as yesterday, and there is no wind blowing thank goodness. It is 34 and going to warm in to the 40's with tomorrow expected to reach the low 50's.

One of Kathy's cousins in Mohawk posted a video on Facebook last night. They have closed in their front porch for winter and have a gas fired firepit on the porch. Last night her husband was out snow blowing the driveway and she was sitting on the front porch in shirt sleeves, with the firepit on low and a thermos of hot chocolate for her hubby to sip when he took a break to get warm. I don't know if I would burn a firepit on the front porch even on low but it sure must be nice to have an open fire to warm your hands when you have been working outside for a while, and what better to take a rest break with than a nice cup of hot cocoa. The firepit is one of those ceramic tiled tables with the firepit in the center.

Gee if they had a BBQ Grill outside they could just light that up and raise the lid whenever he wanted to warm his hands. People BBQing on the front porch and having a firepit on it both scare me. But what floats their boat.

Just about until I figured out why. LOL.
