This place is packed in spring and summer and fall. Outside seating is plentiful and is packed. Hope they all enjoy the festivities. Delmonico next door is another place that is packed that I see in the sprinf, summer and fall. Canal Harbor is another.

Being operated by the family that owns the Chesterfield, I imagine that the food is wonderful. We have only eaten at the Chesterfield twice. Once for a wedding reception and once for dinner with my youngest son and his wife. Both times the food was excellent. the greens were out of this world and the service was fine also.

I like their outside eating area, but can't see the draw for it. Sitting there listening/smelling the cars and trucks going up and down Genesee St. at 40+ mph while eating doesn't appeal to me in the least. The dust alone from the street and the hotel construction next door must add extra flavor to the food.

The outdoor area at Piggy Pat's is nice if it is not cold or windy. I don't see the attraction of eating outside looking at a parking lot or a busy street.

I was never much for eating outside at a restaurant. One of the things that always turned me off about Voss's was that there was always a lot of flies and yellow jackets buzzing about. I got stung once putting our trash in the trash can and that was the last time I ever went there. They certainly have a huge fan following. I have never driven by there when there wasn't a crowd and a line at the windows. Personally I always have preferred the Patio Drive-in. When I was a kid my grandpa used to take us kids either there or the Frozen Cow for the frozen custard ice cream cones. That was back in the day when frozen custard was real custard and not some phony mix.
My former brother and sister in-law were always at Voss's on opening day, rain or shine, to get their first BBQ sandwich of the season.
We did eat outside at Piggy Pats once a couple of years ago. It was quite pleasant, clean, and no flies. The food is great there. Did you ever go to Piggy Pats when they first started out and were in a barn between Little Falls and Middleville CB?

I choked on gas fumes from trucks and the two Buses not to mention the cars. I walked back drinking my coffee on the way.

I think The Tailor and the Cook Restaurant enclosed their outdoor seating because of the gas fumes and dust from the very close street.

It may be better now that the buses have their own hub. When all the buses used to leave from Union Station, they would go under the bridge, turn left up Genesee and lay down a black and smelly cloud of diesel exhaust half way up the block toward Liberty St. I assume that the intercity buses and Greyhound are the only buses leaving from Union Station since they built the new bus hub. Do the Birnie buses for Syracuse and Little Falls still depart from Union Station or do they come and go from that Centro bus hub also?

I have never been to the one in Middleville. Flies and yellow jackets would be a definite turn off at an eating place.

First stop is at the CENTRO Hub right on Bleecker St. They have there own dedicated stop and across the street at the new RCIL headquarters( which was the old Business College) Birnie Bus make another stop for people going in the opposite direction. Also Birnie Bus stops at the Bleecker St stop after St. John's Church and also at the association of the blind. Only Bus coming back from North Utica is the Genesee St North Utica Bus and their two different routes. Greyhound Bus and others all stop at the Union Station. The Bleecker St Bus has runs throughout the day also to Union Station to bring people there and pick them up. I am always surprised at the large number of people coming into Utica and going in the early evening. Many also go by bicycle. They have stands there for the bikes.

Clipper with the new road construction going on downtown the road coming back from North Utica that has a ramp to John Street is closed for good. All that is being torn down so that underneath will become a park with easy access to Baggs Square and what will be Harbor Point. Not sure what goes on from there. Maybe a trolley or gondola to transport everyone to Harbor Point and beyond. Both have been mentioned. I would like to see horse and buggie with drivers dressed in colonial attire. If and when I become Mayor of Utica this would be my idea. Woops something like that
