www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/inside-home-depots-efforts-to-stop-a-growing-theft-problem-at-its-stores/ar-BBX9SEu?li=BBnb7KzIt is hard to believe how many people shoplift. Walmart has a special little office right inside the entrance specifically for security folks and to have it handy for people being detained for the police. I have a friend that used to work at Lowes. He says the largest theft he ever saw was when a truck driver was sleeping in his truck behind the store, waiting to be unloaded in the morning. Someone quietly opened the truck doors and stole about $5000 worth of Black and Decker power tools off the trailer. They took the pieces one at time, leaving the pallet intact and on the trailer. Luckily for Lowes, they had not received the shipment yet and the liability laid with the trucking company.

The link seems to go to MSN rather than a single report.

I changed the link and commented on the content. Sorry about that. I had to take the dog out mid posting.

Many times when I have coffee at McD's in Walmart at North Utica I see security dragging someone in that little office who attempted to steel something. So far twice this week!! They have to be nuts with all the camera's around as well as plainclothesmen.
I still can't figure out how someone would even attempt to carry out a 60 inch TV!! A screw drive or hammer yes but a 60 inch TV, Nah....

I once bought a coffee and was sitting in the McDonalds at the Center Reach Long Island store while they unloaded my trailer and watched two different cops arrive, go into that little office, and leave with a person in cuffs. One had hardly departed when store security brought another individual to that office and another cop came to arrest that individual. That was late in the evening, just before the McDonald's closed for the night. One would think if a person was going to steal they would do it when there was more shoppers to offer cover while they walked out the exit.

If I were a greeter I would call in sick on Black Friday. Heck if I worked at Walmart in ANY position I would call in sick on Black Friday.

The unfortunate part of working for Walmart is that if you call in during the "Black Friday event days" you lose your extra 15% discount. You only get to use it once, but it's good for any purchase, whether it's one item of two cart fulls of "whatever". Tends to make folks come to work regardless. Me..........I'll be there, but really don't give a shit one way or the other.

Is that a discount that can be used AFTER black Friday Ralph or does it have to be used ON black Friday.

We get it after we have worked all the shifts that entail the Black Friday event, which this year are the 27th - 30th. Then we'll have two days (Dec 5-6th) to use it for a single blanket purchase along with our regular 10% discount. 25% of whatever you can fit in a cart or two is a big incentive for some folks. For us, it's not all that. We don't have any particular big ticket items we need and filling my cart up with meats for the freeze, from Walmart, doesn't appeal to me in the least.

Sorry about that Ralph. I hit edit rather than quote. I didn't change anything before I noticed my mistake. I don't blame you for not wanting to waste your discount on Walmart meats. Even if I did shop there I would not care to spend my money on their water added, frozen and thawed meats. I bought steaks once at a Walmart in Sweetwater Tn while we were camping. I think most of the nutrition and flavor went down the drain or in the trash in the form of the pink water that leached out of them. It wasn't blood. It was blood tinged pink water. You might expect that from hamburger, but not steaks. I feel for those with a house full of kids that have to price shop for meat. I shop for sale items and discounts too but when I purchase meat I purchase the highest quality that I can lay my hands on.

PB: They don't have any bird toys there for parrots. I'll use the discount for a new pair of steel toed work shoes, maybe some extra laundry soap and perhaps some of the pre-packaged & seasoned pork roasts they carry. Those are great for when we do pulled pork sandwiches. I would stock up on frozen veggies, but most of them are freezer burnt in four different states before they go in the freezers to begin with.

Are you talking about those little marinated pork tenderloins Ralph? Kathy and I love those things. They are just the right size to feed two, fork tender, and they cook quickly in the air fryer. I buy them at Aldi's for about 5 bucks. They come in Teryaki, Italian herbs and spices, and lemon pepper. We love them. When I do pulled pork I use a pork butt and do it in the crock pot with orange juice, brown sugar, and Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce.
