lite987.com/does-womans-cemetery-display-for-dead-son-go-too-far/I am unsure whether the display should be forbidden or not but it definitely strikes me as being a bit weird. It really isn't harming anyone and Halloween will be over at the stroke of midnight tonight. Everyone mourns in their own way and the article states that there is no rule against it, but I bet that there will be soon.

Why is this any different than an immigrant from another country and culture being offended by some of our traditions? Our government changes rules to accommodate these offenses, so why not this case? A cemetery, like a church, is a sacred place and definitely not a place for levity, even at this time of year. Christine's decorations are an offense to many and it should be stopped.

Hey its her son and I see nothing wrong with it. I doubt those around it have anything to say. LOL People continue to grieve differently.

A matter of taste I would think. The cemetery where my mom and dad's cremated remains are buried has graves that I find a bit over the top. There is one with two shepherd's crooks laden with pots of ridiculously fake-looking plastic dollar store quality flowers. That same grave also has a Budweiser can and an ashtray with a fake cigarette made out of a wooden dowel, all affixed to the top of the headstone with silicone or something. Obviously, that person must have been one to enjoy a beer and a smoke. It is their plot and no business of mine what they choose to put there. The cemetery prohibits real plants. Other than that, there are few restrictions. There is also a grave of a young child that is always adorned with teddy bears and pinwheels that are changed periodically. We keep mom and dad's grave adorned with a silk flower arrangement that is sprayed with lacquer based hairspray to preserve it from the rain and from fading in the sun. It is in a wire saddle that straddles the top of the stone. They both loved Christmas so I put an artificial pine wreath with a red bow on the grave for Christmas and take it down on New Years'. I clean the stone when it is dirty. I replace the flag in dad's flag holder a couple of times a year. I am of the belief that they have long since been reunited in a place far better than here. I believe that "Elvis has left the building." They have left their tired, worn, and afflicted flesh behind. All that is buried there is two small plastic bags, placed in two ornate cherry wood boxes, that are sealed in two fibreglass cubical burial vaults. A cemetery is a place where a person's remains are ensconced in a sealed container and protected from being disturbed. When a person pays thousands for a plot I guess there is no harm in allowing her to place her plastic skeleton on the grave. I wouldn't do it, but neither would I care if someone whose grave was near to mom and dad's chose to do it.
