This time for Barb. For several years her shoulder has bothered her but she has been able to control the pain with PT and exercise. That doesn't work anymore. She went to the doc yesterday and showed me the xrays when she got home, Basically it is bone on bone. This is shaping up to be a fun winter.

Shoulder surgery requires a long and painful recovery, and the physical therapy is no walk in the park. Are they saying that she needs to have a replacement CB? My heart goes out to her. She will be in my prayers.

What can they do to relieve her pain at this point? Steroid injections? Some sort of surgical procedure that doesn't involve replacing the joint?

At this point the recommended procedure is to go arthroscopically to the back of the shoulder joint, push the arm back where it belongs and repair the muscle or tendon which is allowing it to move. All of which may fail. She is still debating.

Oh my I hope and pray all goes well with how she decides. Gee they do hip replacements why not shoulder replacements. Basically the same thing with a ball and joint.

They DO perform shoulder replacements PB. It is a bit more complicated than a knee or a hip because of the range of motion, moving in several directions.

I hope all goes well for her CB. I don't wish surgery on anyone, especially when it may not solve the problem.
