cnycentral.com/news/local/cnycentral-colleagues-look-back-on-laura-hands-remarkable-careerGee, it doesn't seem like it has been 47 yrs that Laura Hand has been on Channel 3 in Syracuse. Once again I am reminded how old I am, haha. I remember when she was the young new face to Channel 3 news, but I can't remember who it was that she co-anchored with when she first started out. Channel 3 was always my second place to go for the evening news. I still watch two regional broadcasts before watching the NBC national and world news at 6:30. I used to watch the WKTV news and then flip to channel 3 for the Syracuse local news. Now I watch the Bristol news on channel 5 and then flip to channel 11 in Johnson City for a little broader look at the regional news. I congratulate her for a 47 year career at the same job, and for still being popular and loved by the viewers. I wish her the best in whatever she plans to do in her retirement years. There are newscasters that sit like a mannequin and deliver the news as read from the monitor, speaking in a monotone, and then there are others who bring genuine interest and a bit of personality to the news. Laura is certainly one of the latter.
