Here you go again. Spectrum customers are slated to see yet another rise in their cable and internet bills. While stating that the rise in price is eminent, they DON'T tell anyone HOW MUCH their bill increase, or any percentage factor by which the cost to the customer will rise.
We left Charter Spectrum for a different provider quite some time ago now, but we left specifically because of frequent price increases. We would never know until we opened the envelope how much we would be paying for the service. We didn't even have the premium package for cable tv. We had what they call "expanded basic" along with their high speed internet service and landline phone. When they moved a couple of channels from our package to the premium package, and our monthly bill was rapidly approaching 200 bucks it was the straw that broke the camel's back.
We changed over to our local utility's plan. It is an all fiber network with higher internet speed than Spectrum and about 20 additional channels included in their expanded basic program. Our only complaint is their on screen program guide. It is not interactive. It just scrolls slowly and there is no description of what a program is about available. It also will only show what is on for a 2 hour period. However I am able to get a program description and am able to look ahead to what is on for the entire day. I don't have to wait until 8 pm to see what is on at 10 pm. I just keep my tablet by my chair to use to access the program guide. www.tvtv.us/tn/bristol/37620/lu6220D
Switching in our case saves us almost 60 bucks a month and we have a better channel selection, and faster internet. I guess the only other alternative to the highway robbery committed by cable and satellite providers is to use an analog antenna and a streaming service. Eventually if enough people bail from their service cable companies might begin to offer reasonably priced service again.
I wonder if this will reignite the battle between NY State and Charter Spectrum again. I wonder what sort of a deal was made that allowed Charter to do business in NY after they were slated to be kicked out of NY State.
